Thread: UniAW6.0 for iph4 & iph5

  1. #7741
    question.. timed wall...

is it day night and condition based?

if not, im trying to get a script where maybe 2 3 images will rotate maybe every hour but based on day - night, and condition.

The timed walls are not weather condition based. The animations shown during them are though. What you are proposing is combining the two. To do so in current form you would need 18 different condition walls to match the time of day used by the timed walls. So if using 30 minute timed walls that would be 864 wallpapers. You could simplify it by just using the same image for multiple conditions though.

Whew.. Awesome, yes...! But by the time UniAW hits version 6.4 we'll all be needing Mophie Battery Pak cases just to run it!

If we started off with an image of with an image size of say 2000px high and scale it down in css to 568px high it would not look as good as the the smaller original one at 1136px high, because again, it's not viewed at 100%.

So when doing backgrounds on a widget for use with iph4 and iph5 it's best to put them into a container, for iph5 make the container and image size 568 height X 320 width.
For the iph4 side leave the image size the same but reduce the container size height to 480 and set it to overflow: hidden;. This way you are not stretching the images out of 100% for iph4, you are just hiding the extra bit.

Hope this makes sense to you.
So amazingly helpful, Ian. Sure does make sense!! Solved a very old mystery for me. This is the thread just keeps on giving!!! Thanks, Ian!!

    No problem Grant,

Remember this applies to all images on all device, so your wallpaper on your PC/Mac for instance, should always be the exact same size as your screen resolution for maximum clarity, unless it's a retina device, then you double the size i guess (don't have a retina Mac... yet).

Talking of big holes. Ian, will you take any part in the Crossrail project in London?

I've been doing small bits of drainage there and whole project is massive!

No M8, never heard of those TBM's, unusual soft ground cutter head design too!
I work with Herrenknecht AG, they are based in Germany and I haven't seen my boss in 5 years (last time I went to the factory) LOL... it's all via phone and mail.

Now the problem is TRUSTING whether or not the "original image" you're purchasing or downloading Is actually the resolution they state. If not, if it's in upsample, then even at 100% it will look trashy.

Thanks to MJ I got 1200+ pano scrolling walls on slideshow. Her timed wall scrolling pano walls setup. And randomly chosen weather walls with 10 different scrolling pano walls (thx to Marty code). Got the blur going, works fine on i5. Not sure if a 4/4S could handle it. Will try it on my 4 later. Trying to get the file size down too. My personal version is 1.85gb in size lol. I got a version of it down to 530mb but its i5 only right now.
