No, but in iOS 5, all you had to do was open/close the app. Now unless I respring or reboot, I never get an update. I had noticed that the forecast tweak was updating fairly good and it even has a refresh button on it. I was hoping to be able to tap into that, but no luck yet. I think I have found a software to edit xcode on windows, now I just need to learn it and write a tweak to hook into it.

    Dacal,

6.3 is working good, but man my forecast temps are way off. One day as much as 18 degrees F!

[QUOTE=NewdestinyX;6880459]But Ssemmel, I'm curious.. What do you have running behind the animation? When you rename UniAW to Wallpaper.html it doesn't have a background of its own unless you turn on FullWeatherWalls or DayNight walls. You said you had those turned off AND no longer are using JPEGifier which would get you a background too. So I'm curious. What do you see behind the animation on your Springboard "as" a Wallpaper now?

I turned on Full weather walls... otherwise it was black... I never was able to get the weather walls to work... they always said sunny and day even if it was raining and night here... now it works!!!! Thanks!

Your method is a lot better for a personnal use. My goal is to make something that can work for everyone, without libweather or API key. For now, it works great for US people.

I have explained to Ian yesterday :

Step 1) I use Yahoo for geolocalization (as before) and get the city, postal, countrycode and state.
Step 2) If countrycode is US, i can use the postal code directly with accuweather !!!! => Step 4.
Step 3) If not US, i must call the accuweather URL to get all the cities with the same name (as step 1) and the same country code, then i create one array. After, i use a loop, to find something similar to the state i have got in step 1 (it's a quick resume, it's the most difficult part...).
Step 4) I call the latest URL to have the weather conditions.

The step 3 is the one that can cause problems : for exemple, Yahoo doesn't always report the state... So i try with the county,... If no result, i try with the country (less accurate),... On the other side, the "state" on Accuweather is not always a real state... Sometimes, it's the country or the county ...

Another problem i have solved now for UK users : Yahoo gives "GB" as country code (Great Britain), Accu gives "UK"...

I think the code is pretty good now, to cover 99% of the situations, but need to test again...
Thanks, Dacal, for explaining the idea and I can imagine that step 3 could be troublesome
I can see that getting info from another weather service for free, without API key and equal covering of the globe is a challenge these days.
Weather Elements, which uses Weather Underground, uses an url without API key, but could not get it working with latitude/longitude, which works for the url with API key. I am not sure how long this API free url will be supported.

Full screen animated gifs together with full screen animated weather still works fine on the 3GS, I tried MYO-weather v.2 on my son's 3GS and it works fine, but seems to use the resources to the full, there is a second lag in unlocking.

In bold above. Not true. It did update prior iOS 6
But you needed weather icon tweak. With refresh turned on in settings.
It updated definitely as I was using it with no issues at all.
At the present time, exactly like I said, it does not.

    Dacal,

6.3 is working good, but man my forecast temps are way off. One day as much as 18 degrees F!

Same issue for me. Not 18 deg but 3 deg C for most
Otherwise working great. But this has always been the case for me with accuweather.

Yahoo temps for me match with my apps as well as local news forecasts for the most part.
    Accuweather is a little off.

Using the National Weather service as the control.

    National Weather Service (forecast.weather.gov):

    40/62 47/63 54/65 57/69 63/79

    Accuweather RealFeel true:

    50/75 53/74 59/69 62/86 63/86

    Accuweather RealFeel false:

    50/64 53/70 59/72 62/84 63/85

    Stock weather app:

    43/64 48/64 54/66 64/82 68/84

    Yahoo on the web:

    42/64 50/65 54/66 60/68 65/82

I would say that the data from the stock app is the closest to the national weather service.

But it appears that once you go out 3 days or more, it starts to vary quite a bit.

Oh man, Brian.. If YOU could become an XCode mad and 'write tweaks' as well as mod java - we'd be SO in the house. I believe a tweaks tied into the plist of Native Weather could be the next innovation we've been needing for a LONG time. It would also eliminate the need for myLocation.app all together if I understand correctly. Right?

I turned on Full weather walls... otherwise it was black... I never was able to get the weather walls to work... they always said sunny and day even if it was raining and night here... now it works!!!! Thanks!
Ah.. That makes sense... Yes - Widget.html needs SOMETHING as Wallpaper.html behind it - or black only.. Strange still - that you never got the Full Weather Walls working for you. Mine, in every version from UniAW6.0 worked. NOT - the early ones were not updating Day to Night and Night to Day automatically without a respring at one point. Maybe that's the time you were testing them out. But Dacal and Ian figured that out even before 6.1. It was all fixed by 6.1.. Thanks for the info. I'm just always trying to understand people's 'unique' issues with a given tweak. I learn better studying 'problem cases'. LOL!!!

It would also eliminate the need for myLocation.app all together if I understand correctly. Right?
Yes, no longer would need MyLocation
Weather plist stores you local woeid (changes based on location in weather app)
Also stores woeid for the other cities you have set in the app.
Along with all the other info you see in your weather app on phone.
Technically we only need the woeid, rest is pretty easy to get elsewhere.
On the flip side, it could really get all the info from that plist and we wouldn't need any other service.
Only needs to be decrypted and something to refresh it in the background.

But you needed weather icon tweak. With refresh turned on in settings.
It updated definitely as I was using it with no issues at all.
Hmm. Not for me. Even with weather icon. Not for MANY of us. I argued with BlueMetal about this tooth and nail. Even with weather icon installed you still had to launch the Native Weather.app itself for the temp to update. Or a respring would get it for you. In fact you were in those early discussions too in his Pages theme thread. When you moved from city to city - you had to 'open' the Native Weather app and then you'd get an update in the widget calling on Native Weather. I'm pretty sure you even admitted that to me about change of city issues. You said iPhone needs the app refreshed. I pretty remember that not even 'temp' would update, in the same city, automatically, without a respring - but I'm fuzzy enough on that point I'll concede to your experience on that one, bro.

Suffice it to say - that for GPS auto-updating - even in iOS5 (and certainly now) Native Weather was(is) not a viable option.
