    So we have now the choice, and it's good : use accuweather (almost good for everyone, but i need to work again on it), keep Yahoo and used native weather for forecast (sincerelly, maybe the best solution : just need of libweather library and minor changes in the code).

    I can also look how to use the Yahoo API key and give the choice to users if they have one...

    For the cookie, i personnaly love it, because i often loose my data connexion in the country i live. In fact, it's simple : if you don't be in "Offline" mode (in 6.3 beta), your weather informations are up to date. There is also an option in Config.js to always try to update the widget when lock/unlock.

    I can also add an option to remove the cookie when loading, so the way it works will be the same as 6.2.

    I think you're right on what it's better for now. I must do a small break for one day or two, uniAW is yours, your choice M8 .
    All sounds great to me my friend. Could you add a "Make me Happy" button.

    I'm with you Ian. I was getting a little overwhelmed with the fast progression of UniAW.

    Besides, we should leave something for UniAW7

    Marty and I, well mostly Marty, have been working on a clean implementation of the forecast using libweather. I believe he is very close to having something that we can share. I view the forecast as more of a novelty anyway. When I need good forecast data, I always open the yahoo weather app, it is very well written. I have been digging through it trying to find something else that we can hook into, but haven't had any luck yet. I will continue to look. I would like to get the libweather mod out there and see what people think.

    So Marty, ball is in your court bro! If you got time lets try and get something out that we can let everyone test drive to get some feedback on. Let me know if you need something bro.

    Thanks again Ian and Dacal! It's always a pleasure to be involved with such great people!

    I have a question that I hope someone can help with. All I have is animation on the SB... not forecast no clock just the weather animation but it never seems to change... always sunny... (I wish it has been raining here for 3 days)... It is always day.. this started after all the stuff with yahoo weather happened... any ideas why it is not changing? Much appreciated..

  7. #5245
    One more thing about forecast, I don't necessarily disagree with people who don't think there is a need for it, but when people think of UNIAW, many think of the analog clock and cosmetically it awesome without it but it looks really nice and adds another feature to the clock to have the forecast and background. I think it is one of many things they make the clock widget as nice as it is and makes it more informative as well.

    As far as other mods like max's etc, I could do without it. That's just me though.

    Usually I have the clock with forecast either iwidget or PPHTML version on one page as a mainstay and use animated only with walls on any other page I want it on. It almost feels not the same without the forecast. But that's just my opinion and I'm only one of many.

    I'll appreciate the end result regardless .

    Default To Marty
    Hi Marty,

    So, I'm taking my mind off things and thought I would break down your heat index code: Here we go.

    -----------------------------

    if (tempUnit=="c"){ (no explanation needed)

    if (obj.temp >= 27 && obj.humidity >= 40) { (if temperature is 27 or above & humidity is 40% or more { do something)

    obj.temp = (obj.temp) * 9/5 + 32; (convert temp from Celsius to Fahrenheit (yes I changed it a wee bit))

    var hi = -42.379+2.04901523*(obj.temp)+10.14333127*(obj.humi dity)-0.22475541*(obj.temp)*(obj.humidity)-6.83783*(Math.pow(10, -3))*(Math.pow(obj.temp, 2))-5.481717*(Math.pow(10, -2))*(Math.pow((obj.humidity), 2))+1.22874*(Math.pow(10, -3))*(Math.pow((obj.temp), 2))*(obj.humidity)+8.5282*(Math.pow(10, -4))*(obj.temp)*(Math.pow((obj.humidity), 2))-1.99*(Math.pow(10, -6))*(Math.pow((obj.temp), 2))*(Math.pow((obj.humidity),2)); (convert the now "f" temp to heatindex value and call the conversion "hi")

    var heatindex = Math.round((hi - 32) * 5/9) + " C"; (take the converted figure (hi) and convert it from Fahrenheit back to Celsius, name the final value "heatindex")
    obj.chill = heatindex; (make the "obj.chill" equal to the new calculated value (heatindex))
    }}

    ------------------------

    Only one problem I see with this code my friend, can you see what's missing??

    Look at the beginning, you converted the obj.temp to Fahrenheit, but at the end of the code, when you convert the equation back to Celsius, you set it to obj.chill, you missed out reverting the "obj.temp" back to Celsius, so it remains on Fahrenheit.

    But, if you do convert temp bac to c at the end of this it will also show the heatindex value!

    The "F" side works dandy I think, but I can only give you 9/10.

    Sorry, I'm just looking for something to do.

    I still have the issue. Once in a blue moon my weather updates. I am ok with the 30 seconds it takes to do a respring. I am hopeful the forthcoming weather feed will change things for me or will try SemiRestore when it is released.

    Something to maybe look at......

    I've been using the LS widget and the SB widget after being modified to prevent 5 day forcasts. I used the one widget that was modified by MamaJaay and I also tried the SB widget that was posted on here a few pages back file name e6_SB2erayser.zip.

    With both of these..... I have noticed on my iPhone5 that my iphone if I leave the NC screen pulled down on the lock screen and leave it down and let the phone go to sleep on its own. When I wake the phone up.... The animations of the screen of the clouds are still moving but the phone is froze. I cannot click on anything at that point. I also noticed this happen on the SB version listed above. I believe they use part of the codes if not the same codes as the originals minus a few lines modified or removed.

    I use Intelliscreen X as well (latest version) I don't know if it is part of the coding of the widget that is causing the lockup of the phones or if it is IntelliscreenX that has the issue. I only started noticing the lockups when I use UniAW. Just wanted to share my experience with you guys that make the scripts incase it is a bug.

    It could well be that it is just me having this problem, but if you guys don't mind trying this out and give me some feedback. I would really appreciate it. I have not had any encounters with my iphone freezing or locking up when I leave my NC screen pulled down when these widgets are turned off.

    As I have mentioned before.... Thank you to all the people for the sharing of your setups and more than anything to those spending so much time to make our experience with our iphone and ipads so much more enjoyable and fun to use. I'm looking forward to the new fix. By all means, though you enjoy modding and scripting, due take breaks and spend time with family and your kids. Though we love to have new things for our phones... family is always #1 and they deserve your time more than we do... We can wait a little bit for fixes, there is no reason to spend all your time here.

    Come May 28, I'm heading out to Spain for a couple weeks to spend time with family and I won't have much time to be on here. I'm worried about 1 thing...... how many freaking pages I'm going to have to catch up on between this thread and the Elite6 thread LOL. This thread has been going pretty good, and the Elite 6 thread for iphone 5 is rediculous.

    Anyways..... i'll try to peak on here once in a while. Best regards to all of you.

    Mike

    Who here can ever remember looking at the forecast and later in the day seeing that the forecast has changed? Not me.
    So lets be realistic, we don't need the forecast updating every 15 minutes.. If you do need this. then I would say look in the notification center.

    The UniAW is primarily an Animated Weather widget.
    I feel (so sorry Dacal) the input of the json cookie is complicating the code too much, I don't like it when I can't understand my own widget code LOL.. then I/we have to rely on Dacal for any changes made.

    I would like to return the code to version 6.21 (the latest one without the cookie) then add all the extra goodies (not the cookie) from 6.3 to this code (which I can easily do, it just takes a bit of time). This way at least I can understand my own widget! For offline mode you can chose from static image or demo mode, if that's not good enough for you.. tough luck.

    Yes this means going back to Yahoo, but as the old saying goes, you can't please all of the people all of the time, and at least Yahoo works worldwide.

    I see little point in adding, adding, adding more confusing code so it gets to the point only one man understands it, (something like Rasp's code (no offense intended M8 but it's fact) it's too much to ask from one man, and now I think even Dacal is getting confused and spending way too much time on this.

    Also, I would completely remove all code for weather forecast from the widget and use native weather if that is the only choice at present, a switch to show forecast or not would just load the separate forecast code (not built into the UniAW.js).

    Maybe at some later date we can play with other options but at present we need to make a decision and not let Dacal spend days & days trying different things and ending up with a very complicated widget.

    My vote: Keep it simple, remove the forecast and cookie, go back to 6.21 and add native weather forecast as a separate add-on.

    I'm gonna wait and see Dacal's response before I do anything and sincerely hope I haven't offended him an any way.

    When we are all relaxed with nothing to do, lets look for alternative sources that work.

    PS, don't waist your time quoting this and telling me how much you hate Yahoo, lets be realistic about this.
    Ian I'm 110% behind you. I don't believe this was ever intended to be the do all of weather apps. It was intended to animate the weather of today. And again I agree if its getting out of your understandings then it needs to go back to that level. This has always been your baby. Now I know dacal has great knowledge and has been a great help. But trying to please everyone will never happen. Put out 6.3 the way you want it. Then ppl can tweak it with different code and js for them selves. But you guys have been working far to much on this and it has taken over a part if your focus which needs to be back on your actual lives. I commented out the 4 day. My weather works and I'm happy as hell. And in my humble opinion if ppl aren't happy with what they have. Then they need to learn to code them selves. U went from uniaw. A hobby of yours. To uniaw. A team to try to get it working.

    I thank you for all u hve done

    @ Marty again.

    Try this M8.

    Code:
    if (tempUnit=="c" && obj.temp >= 27 && obj.humidity >= 40){
    var marty;
    marty = (obj.temp) * 9/5 + 32;

    var hi = -42.379+2.04901523*(marty)+10.14333127*(obj.humidity)-0.22475541*(marty)*(obj.humidity)-6.83783*(Math.pow(10, -3))*(Math.pow(marty, 2))-5.481717*(Math.pow(10, -2))*(Math.pow((obj.humidity), 2))+1.22874*(Math.pow(10, -3))*(Math.pow((marty), 2))*(obj.humidity)+8.5282*(Math.pow(10, -4))*(marty)*(Math.pow((obj.humidity), 2))-1.99*(Math.pow(10, -6))*(Math.pow((marty), 2))*(Math.pow((obj.humidity),2));

    var heatindex = Math.round((hi - 32) * 5/9) + " C";
    obj.chill = heatindex;

    } else {

    if (tempUnit=="f" && obj.temp >= 80 && obj.humidity >= 40){

    var hi = -42.379+2.04901523*(obj.temp)+10.14333127*(obj.humidity)-0.22475541*(obj.temp)*(obj.humidity)-6.83783*(Math.pow(10, -3))*(Math.pow(obj.temp, 2))-5.481717*(Math.pow(10, -2))*(Math.pow((obj.humidity), 2))+1.22874*(Math.pow(10, -3))*(Math.pow((obj.temp), 2))*(obj.humidity)+8.5282*(Math.pow(10, -4))*(obj.temp)*(Math.pow((obj.humidity), 2))-1.99*(Math.pow(10, -6))*(Math.pow((obj.temp), 2))*(Math.pow((obj.humidity),2));

    }
