    Where did you find the formula?

    I'm sure it's 42.123583495859385983745928759... roughly.
    King sent me the formula in JS form! He rules. However, in the end, I used the code from this page: Heat Index Calculators.....which I think is the same as Kings code anyway

    EDIT: As I was testing with current temperature(s) yesterday, my Heat Index values were the same as I was seeing on theweathernetwork.com so as far as I can tell, the formula is correct

    Is there anyway to use weather underground. I use on xbmc it seems to be more accurate and never down.

  6. #4804
    A little confused now as I look at my city page on theweathernetwork.com: Weather Forecast: Barrie, Ontario - The Weather Network

    Everything I've read says that heat index doesn't kick in unless temp (c) is over 27 and humidity is over 40. You can see on the page above that there IS a heat index right now (feels like 24) however the temperature is only 18?! I don't get it.

    Sorry for the question but will the fix work with 6.1 PP or should I upgrade to 6.2PP I would prefer to wait and make sure Yahoo does not make some drastic change. They should allow us to pull data even if it was for a small price. BTW I only use 2 day forcast

    Thanks for the help

    ooooo, this has "project" written all over it!

    This might be WAYYYY beyond me but I am going to give it a try.

    This look like a good place to start:

    <script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.5.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
    <script>
    jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
    $.ajax({
    url : "http://api.wunderground.com/api/Your_Key/geolookup/conditions/q/IA/Cedar_Rapids.json",
    dataType : "jsonp",
    success : function(parsed_json) {
    var location = parsed_json['location']['city'];
    var temp_f = parsed_json['current_observation']['temp_f'];
    alert("Current temperature in " + location + " is: " + temp_f);
    }
    });
    });
    </script>

    I have an old LED app I wonder if we could have it display on one of the blimps with a message? Just wondering but I always liked that little app.

    Even with the commented out lines done exactly (I think) as described earlier I can't get 6.21 WB version to work again. Can someone please just post the UniAW 6.21 UniAW.js fixed version for me, please.. Pretty please....
    Here to help if I can. If I can't I know someone who can!

    I think you've been lookin at the MYO scripts.

    I can't get the feels like code to do anything, to all testing it beware that when Marty posted it, it somehow got a gap (space) in the word "humidity" on each of the two lines that start with "var hi"

    Did you change anything else Marty? mine doesn't even display the "F" or "C so I know somethings up!

    Wow - how disappointing! Works perfectly for me! Nope, nothing else changed. I test with all sorts of different numbers (C and F) and every time, I get the same results as this page gives: Heat Index Calculators

    I see those gaps!!!! But when I go to edit the post, the gaps aren't there. First I've ever seen that!

    How are you testing it Ian? I've been testing by adding these two lines to the very top of script:

    obj.temp = 30;
    obj.humidity = 85;

    Just have to remember when entering 'temperature' values, enter them as per what you have set in config (F or C).

    I have to also remember to comment them out or remove them each time I'm done testing

    EDIT: I wonder if more then just those gaps got screwed up when I pasted the code. Trying again here:

    // Heat index computed using air temperature F and RH%

    if (tempUnit=="c"){

    if (obj.temp >= 27 && obj.humidity >= 40) {

    obj.temp = 1.80 * (obj.temp) + 32.0;

    var hi = -42.379+2.04901523*(obj.temp)+10.14333127*(obj.humi dity)-0.22475541*(obj.temp)*(obj.humidity)-6.83783*(Math.pow(10, -3))*(Math.pow(obj.temp, 2))-5.481717*(Math.pow(10, -2))*(Math.pow((obj.humidity), 2))+1.22874*(Math.pow(10, -3))*(Math.pow((obj.temp), 2))*(obj.humidity)+8.5282*(Math.pow(10, -4))*(obj.temp)*(Math.pow((obj.humidity), 2))-1.99*(Math.pow(10, -6))*(Math.pow((obj.temp), 2))*(Math.pow((obj.humidity),2));

    var heatindex = Math.round((hi - 32) * .556) + " C";
    obj.chill = heatindex;
    }}

    if (tempUnit=="f"){

    if (obj.temp >= 80 && obj.humidity >=40) {

    var hi = -42.379+2.04901523*(obj.temp)+10.14333127*(obj.humi dity)-0.22475541*(obj.temp)*(obj.humidity)-6.83783*(Math.pow(10, -3))*(Math.pow(obj.temp, 2))-5.481717*(Math.pow(10, -2))*(Math.pow((obj.humidity), 2))+1.22874*(Math.pow(10, -3))*(Math.pow((obj.temp), 2))*(obj.humidity)+8.5282*(Math.pow(10, -4))*(obj.temp)*(Math.pow((obj.humidity), 2))-1.99*(Math.pow(10, -6))*(Math.pow((obj.temp), 2))*(Math.pow((obj.humidity),2));

    var heatindex = Math.round(hi) + " F";
    obj.chill = heatindex;
    }}

    EDIT 2: I still see the gaps

    Just an idea but instead of recreating the world there was a recent underground weather widget for NC and so far it works flawlessly what if we use that as the base for the info and just pull the info from what it pulls?

    This would also eliminate having to use my location.

    Strangest thing, I was not using "obj.temp = 30; obj.humidity = 85;" I was just trying it in a few different locations (different codes) and it wouldn't take at all, not even the "C" or "F".

    So then I tried with the obj= blah blah.... and it worked, so I removed the test temp again and now it works!!! weird!!

    I think maybe we are placing the code in the wrong place.

    I have seen the space issue before, that's how I knew to look for it when it broke the widget.

    OK, whew! To present YOU with something only to have it not work is extremely embarrassing . Glad it's working now. If you're able to (and anyone else), please test it as much as possible? I'm pretty sure it's all good but I would love to get the 100% OK from other people.

    EDIT: very possible that the script is not in the ideal place. Maybe Dacal can shed some light on that?
