Widget-Weather App Now Available! Also with MyLocation Support!
Check out the thread here - Widget-Weather
To install the Widget-Weather app, just go to Cydia and install. This will also remove MyLocation, as it is built in!
Want to protect your JailBreak! Add this repo http://cydia.myrepospace.com/iLEXiNFO/ & Install "iLEX R.A.T."
It will allow you to bring your phone back to a fresh jailbroken state!

    Hi Dacal,

How come the gps works on the standard weather app (local weather), this is also from Yahoo, I thought something was up when I check the standard weather app and it was working but our widget's were not!

Hi Ian ! I think apple doesn't use the same API. Unfortunately, i don't see a solution now for us... Frustrating !

My themes : Jade HD, Silex HD, BaSalt HD,ToPaz
All are on Cydia and/or Theme It.

Default For UniAW6 iWidget Users :)
Since Yahoo's has decided to drop free Geo Locating Services, I'm gonna show you how to change the defaults in the options.plist so you don't have to switch GPS to false or enter your default home location every time you start the iWidget version of UniAW6.

Open the UniAW iWidget folder and edit the Option.plist:

    Find this true statement here:

    change to false like this:

    Now find this string here:

and change the numbers to your own valid Yahoo Woeid city code.

Now when you open the iWidget, you should be able to pin it without having to change these default values every time.
You still can manually change your city code through the iWidget menu system if you change locations.

Hope this helps until we can sort out a GPS alternative

So the reality is that whole Crazyvivek thing is useless to all our widgets now - and we have no GPS solution for the seeable near future?

I nominate Raz to 'lead us out of the wilderness into new lands unknown'.. Are you willing Raz????

I feel bad for all you widget makers - whose PM boxes are gonna get SPAMMED for the next several days. Can we get Anthony Bouchard to send out a newsflash about this to at least get the word out?

No, the MyLocation app and associate MyLocation.txt are not useless, they function as they were designed.

We need to rewrite our scripts to use the coordinates from the myLocation.txt and converts those GPS coordinates into a Woeid that yahoo can get our Weather info for from another Geo Location service.

That's the piece that is broken at the moment.

However, Ras has a very interesting solution, personally I'm gonna follow up on his method, seems simple enough

I would have no problem paying small dollars to obtain an API key from Yahoo.

But I'm also going to try the method from Ras.

I feel worse for Ian, after redoing the entire UniAW. But we'll get something else going. I remember when we didn't have GPS.

I also had this issue, so after I inputted my new code I pressed "Temperature Unit" and selected Celsius again then the new code held.

Hey, I just noticed that with an iWidget the animations are on top of the icons, never realized this before! Cool.

Okay. All good. But don't you widget makers agree that we have a great opportunity here to 'get rid of Yahoo' forever!! Will Ras' method allow us to actually GET the data from another source. Yahoo is notoriously bad or reporting accurate info for anything other than major cities. When I put in MY town's code via WoeID or using the GPS - the yahoo only ever sends back Partly Cloudy or Mostly cloudy 365 days a year. It doesn't report properly - or shall we say LAZY reporting. But as soon as I put a Central Philadelphia code in WoeID or Latitude/Longitude coordinates - the condition changes in step with Yahoo's weather site. I for one would like a NON-Yahoo solution going forward. Now since Yahoo is no longer free - we can't fall back on the reason anymore for keeping them. Unless you're saying WoeID is 'still free' so well just go with that? But that leaves us no GPS solution moving forward. Does it?

Thanks to Durben's discovering how to have the widgets run outside the Widget.plist boundaries. That was his brain child!

I remember a couple of widgets I had that used GPS and they did not use yahoo they used I believe it was called accuweather stolen or something close. That was when I had the ip4. They worked but I don't know how ethical that was. I do not believe in pirating at all. It was in some thing I purchased and I just happen to see when I was playing around.
I believe the were in an obscure beta theme. May be another option if its ok.

Doesn't matter where we get the weather from, it will not be accurate for all users, Dacal has already reported that Rasp's method is way off for his location. And I'm sure that somewhere down the line WWO will start charging too, especially now they see Yahoo is doing it. The more popular it becomes then they will start to see the opportunity to make $.
It's just progress, at one time not so long ago all themes here were free!

Say what you like about Yahoo, it works (worked) for me, and I just got the API key, now got to figure out how to link it in the js.
If Rasp's method pans out we will see the same complaints, it will be great for some locations but not for others.

Best Idea: Somewhere down the line when we get all possibilities working is a switch for the user to choose from Yahoo (paid), WWO, accuweather or any other source.
