You're absolutely right...However, I don't think anyone can say they've never pirated before. Therefore, we are all pirates lol.

No offense to themers, but I'm sure making a movie takes a heck of a lot more work than a theme, and I'm sure everyone has at least viewed one pirated movies in their lives.

I consider myself a pirate, but not toward themes, because I feel a connection with the community, both theme pirates and themers.. I'm not going to bash theme pirates, because I've been there before, and I know why one would need to pirate. Even now, I don't even do the "try before you buy," at least not from pirate repos. But I think kids who can't afford or have a way to pay for themes look at pirating as an easy alternative to getting a theme. Some of you guys might say "they should email the themer." Personally, I couldn't take a rejection well from a themer, because frankly it was embarrassing for me.

The point is, before you look at a person and put them down for pirating, look at yourself in the mirror. If you can't do that, put yourself in someone else's shoes and try to understand.

I'm done with this thread, I'm sure the debate can go on for ages anyways .

anyone that uses the app moviebox contributes to piracy. lets get real. I support people when needed. and I LOVE my homies and gals here. the digital age is a strange one. I was doing things 10 years ago most people didn't know existed. I know I will support this community at all costs. everyone involved, has earned a place, and deserves to be treated as such. I do not do more than talk and post around here. sometimes i feel as if I speak for the common man, or chick, in saying I don't do code, or build themes. but I believe. in a better way, a better person, a better community. i think June is taking the right steps. I support him in his moves, and in his work. and will continue to do so. you dont like that>? well, we will get a bAd-flAg to wave at your funeral. cause this is happening.

this thread is still being blown up? It's nice everyone is voicing their opinions but please remember this thread is for a service that we hope all themers will use to start combating piracy. If we can implement this theme-wide then we can work on other things like remote trigging the issue. We need you guys to get in on it though. It's no good if just me and june can be bothered.

This is a valid perspective. Here's my only input on this. Just using movies for instance as you have referenced. Take a successful movie. IDK like Avatar or whatever. Last I heard that movie had grossed somewhere near 3 billion dollars. The amount of revenue lost by pirated versions are a drop in the bucket in comparison to the paying customer. So although a nuisance its not affecting the profit margin enough to really care. Now take a theme. I'm not positive of the overall numbers, but I have heard themers suggest that five times as many pirated versions have been loaded in comparison to legit copies sold. So in essence pirated versions are destroying these themers profit margin. That's a major problem. Point being if some of these guys such as June are able to even the playing field a bit, they are doing a great service to the theming community and this thread should be viewed in that light. June has suggested that is in fact what his objective is. In fact he outlined very thoroughly that his objective is indeed to do exactly that. Not start a war on piracy. But make the barriers just a bit tougher. In fact he said he is not in favor of something that would clip pirating altogether because to a degree it's free advertising. Not certain how this man is catching grief for contributing to the community. Perhaps it takes a man with actual business experience to understand a business strategy. IDK.

That being said great work June. Your a solid dude and a unique blend of coding and artistic ability. keep it movin brudda!

i know this anti piracy stuff will not stop piracy but heck why make it easy for them lol. at least this way they might actually have to make an effort to post pirated works.

and as for the try before you buy. i can understand it to a point.... but with that said its not like themes cost 20 bucks so someone would be out a chunk of change if they didnt like it either...

Trust me it isn't out of date. your talking to its repo manager.
Point in breaking his JavaScript is . Your paying this man 40$-100$ to recode your widget to add protection. When most themes in cydia aren't even over what 2-4$'s?
As well as him saying he will charge a themer more if his code is ****? <- this to me is an insult even to themer's. it's bad enough they might loose $ to piracy , but now they just lost a chunk more due to this bs way of protection..
