That's up to the widget creator making the images. Theirs no set in stone dimension for the code to call on. Usually if set at 320x480 that's for packaging purposes only. To cut down on package size some prefer this. However a full image in all it's retina glory is 640x960. That's the optimal dimension for highest quality on a 4s. That is set in stone.

Not sure I understand how 320x480 versus 640x960, both text code strands, can affect the size of a packet by choosing one over another. But I'll read up more on it. Thanks, Pinoy!

What i do is use 320x480 in code and use an image that is 640x960 that shows in full retina on device.

It's a discussion from when we had a lot of full screen image LS's going around. I'm not a code guy but the packages were massive as far as MB's for distribution with 50 full 640x960 images. So guys tried cutting the image size in half to cut back on package size. This was making the images loose quality though. I think Ian or Durban figured a way in how the images were saved to the desktop (.png vs .jpg) that allowed for minimal quality loss and cut the package weight down to a minimum. Derrick could explain all that. Gets a bit confusing.

Save the images as .jpg's. Apply a subtle Smart Sharpen, radius around 1-2, 75-100%.

I just wanted to thank @henf, @gunny, and everyone that is making icons, widgets, and walls. It's nice to wake up in the morning and have 6-9 pages to read through to see all the cool stuff people are making. I was concerned a little that this community was growing tired of the patience required to wait on a jailbreak.

I'm happy to see that people still love to customize and share their phones with others. I confess that I myself was getting tired of it all but this theme has renewed my excitement in supporting the artist that help make my iPhone a unique device.
