Interesting opinions on the matter - Seems very subjective to me and I've made some awful icons in the past that some of my mentors have corrected me for (Thanks to Cuk, Manny, Mi, and everyone else who knows I know ; )

Working at them takes Practice, posting them here and having people Like them is Motivation, and having the nice, insanely talented people on this thread give their *constructive* feedback is what leads to the highest quality.

I don't know about you guys but I can make an icon to the pixel-perfection of my style, but someone more experienced than me will still point out something that kicks it up several notches and I'm that much more seasoned because of it.

I'd hate to see that process disappear on here - The great will still make the great, and the beginners should still have the opportunity to post their work and have it used/liked/critiqued

I saw two, one was myself but never implied they were crap. Rick hit it on the coffin on terms of themes losing their luster. I post quite a few that were basically in the line of the original theme. If I offended you, I'll be a 34 year old man and say, "I'm sorry". But a post on a forum should never make one get upset or annoyed with another. It's good Craig. Trust me, I know my skills are not like a individual who has embarked a career in graphic design, but I know my skills look damn good on a phone just like all the others who have deserved the stupid gold color or ones who have created themes. To all if in some way I have offended you I am sorry. Never was my intention and hate to see this them get flushed. Good day everybody!

Let's get back on track fellas, Iskario didn't mean that how it came out on text. If you know him he's a humble guy and his wording was just a bit strong. Not a big deal. No reason for anybody to leave. Specially you Gunny. Nice having you around. My only input would be from a graphical perspective, take the water affect icons for instance. They are sweet when used correctly. Sprinkling a couple into your setup has a much more profound affect than covering your springboard with them. To each their own though. Everybody has a different take on the theme. For me it's about depth and lighting. No sense getting upset though. We are all grown enough to glide past an opinion or icon that we don't like or agree with. We can't always agree and need to learn to accept others feel differently if this place is ever gonna be like it used to.

While it is true that pasting colored pictures in the theme's templates definitely don't do auros justice in regards to quality, it is up to everyone's taste to judge and download contributor icons [I]they[/] want on their devices. It's not like we're planning to include all icons on this thread in the official download. It's more to add options. And options are what they are : optional.

Those liquid icons are very original thinking. I never saw any theme with this concept. henftling incorporated them for social icons, adding that subtle touch to the mix of white and black icons. The thing is they're so unusual and good looking (even mesmerizing) that it's understandable people want a full matching icon set. It may be just a trend, or a good way to practice that PS process, but it's worth respect.
There are very goo icons shared on this thread. Ones I feel could have been in the Cydia package. But that's my point of view. The artists posting these might not like them, but sharing them here is a proof of generosity, and it's up to us to judge icon choices on screenshots that are posted and to consider some users/modders to be on the top of the shelf.

The same thing applies to widgets and walls, some like heavy branding and not-so-subtle lightening, others like liquid-filled walls, and a minority is into minimal setups. To each is own.

Perhaps do you want to start your own forum and moderate it according to your standards. It'd be a soooo selective one.

I agree with this 100%. I have never contributed any icons because frankly I suck at making them. I'm attempting to learn but it's been a frustrating experience.

With that being said, I know I would feel demoralized if I created something and instead of constructive feedback I just got criticism. I hope @Gunny you don't leave because your lockscreen rocks. I love how well it runs compared to other lockscreens. It doesn't take forever to load and is one of the less ram intensive widgets.

This is me ATM. I find this widget works with just about any theme. Thanks to all involved and thanks for the awesome bitesms theme.

So I say post on, don't be discouraged and encourage constructive feedback on your work. But as others have said. Take your Time, learn how to do things. Learn new things and you will only better yourself

I agree on the point of the theme losing it's originality, Twilight was a prime example, that theme was not recognizable towards the end so i left it.

That's what I'm most afraid of. EPHD has stood the test of time because of staying focussed. I don't want this theme to die in a month.

I started out as a modder, and my icons looked not the best, but I had motivators Like zausser who encouraged me to practice. Along with many other users that used my mods. Nobodys perfect, and everyone should be given a chance. IMO

I agree with your first sentence. But the restricting the constructive feedback to only people who do icons themselves is not necessary to get get good constructive assessments. I've never met a single art critic that was an artist themselves - or a movie critic that could make movies or a restaurant critic who could cook. Having the skill yourself isn't necessary to compare one thing to another and assess whether one's better than the other.

THAT'S WHAT was unique about this theme and what made it a TOP theme from the start. We can't allow it to degrade. Though it's not any one's place to police that. I like to try - but it really isn't my place... uggggh...

"no one"....you didn't follow the Flite thread much? I'm kinda hurt. Do you have any idea how many hours I poured into that thread. How many hours I researched bundle ID's and tested apps. How many icons I had to make "faux bundles" for.....and it's not my theme.

If you have criticism, direct it constructively, and specific to a circumstance. Then those people may learn from it. You basically just discredited the entire icon contents of the DB. No one has really learnt anything.
