02-24-2012, 04:55 PM #1GPS Based HTML Lockscreen Weather Theme
This is my first Lockscreen theme! Hope you like it!
Download from Cydia : Search for "GPS Weather Lockscreen"
ModMyi.com | GPS Weather Lockscreen
Download from Cydia : "Wallpaper JPEGifier" as the theme uses lockscreen wallpaper as background. (requires respring after changing wallpaper)
- The theme does not require manually editing the weather location codes.
- The location code is obtained automatically via Yahoo Place Finder API based on your latitude/longitude.
- The weather/location is refreshed automatically when you move to a new place.
The theme is divided into two parts
1. "HTML theme" - that reads your co-ordinates and then displays weather and location.
2. "Application" - that uses Location Services to get your co-ordinates (latitude/longitude).
Installation Instructions :
1. Download the theme from Cydia
2. Open application MyLocation from your homescreen and turn on "Sig. Change" only. Allow application to use Location Services and then close the application.
1. This theme uses Location Services and the location services icon will always be visible on the status bar
2. In the application "MyLocation" turn on only Sig. Change. This is more battery efficient as per Apple. For more information read "Significant-Change Location Service" https://developer.apple.com/library/...eLocation.html
3. The application needs to be launched only once after installation. The location will be updated even if the application is terminated by the user or ios. There is no need to relaunch the application after reboot.
4. I have tested this on ios 5.01/iPhone 4
And finally the theme.

Wow awesome widget! Very easy setup and looks easy to customize. Just one thing, I couldn't find the code to switch the temp unit from "C" to "F". If you could point out where to make that change I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again! Attachment 568314

Search for var url="http://weather.yahooapis.com/forecastrss?u=c&w=" + LocCode; in GetLocation_Weather.js. And then change u=c to u=f

I would like to try and get this location code/app working with my UniAW, but don't want to try it without asking if it's okay with you first.
Thanks, and great job cracking this.
PS. You might want to move this to the "iPhone 4 New Skins / Theme Launches" thread.

No issues please go ahead and use it.
I was not very sure if "iPhone 4 New Skins / Theme Launches" was the correct place for this thread so I posted it here.

PS. I love that hazy background, I used this image in my LowerUniAW for TimelessHD for the haze weather background.

Having a little trouble installing the app. Keep getting failed from iFunbox. I will figure this out!
One thought though, if you PM Kyle View Profile: Kyle Matthews - Apple, iPhone and iPad Forums | ModMyi.com he could get your package added to Cydia. The app will then auto download in right place for any new users.

Hmm seems I need to download *******.
On google all the repos that have it are pirate repos. Are there any legit repos that have it?

Yeah I can't install the ipa file either, I'm not gonna use (whatever that is) Guess this still needs more work to be user friendly, I'm gonna leave it for now.

I had the same reservations as you Ian but it is INCREDIBLE! I just went out for a drive and it's amazing. It works flawlessly.
I've removed ******* and the pirate repo and all is fine. Still working. It's really quick and although I've only had it working for a few minutes. No noticeable battery changes.
I done a little bit of research on ******* before I downloaded it and all it does is create a new sandbox for new apps. Just like Apple do for their own apps. It was quite a small file, and once I resprung, when onto iFunbox and it worked first time to install the app.
Time for some serious modding! -

Glad you got it working but how can this be user friendly for the average Joe? It couldn't be used in any theme posted on Cydia etc.
02-25-2012, 06:14 AM #19
I do know what you mean. The amount of support PMs you would get would be unbelievable. Once you do it once it does seem easy. Download app sync. Press the install app button in ifunbox. Copy path of the app. Paste it in the theme folder. Done.
But then there is the average Joe..... Hmm, it's hard to think of a way around this unless the theme files itself are made to not use winterboard and are in the location app. Maybe having something like the location app built into the Perpage app. That way you wouldn't need to tell the widget where to find the weather location......

There is a less labours way without editing files. I send Crazy a PM about it, have to wait what he says.
