MyLocation App update for 5.1.1 - 6.1.2 from bushe! Incase you are having problems, this app is working fine. You may need an updated location.js file. If it has been updated, and still not updating go to settings/general/reset and reset all settings, this will not affect your JB!

Hope everyone is doing good. Thanks for the update. Everything is working properly. And thank you to everyone here helping. I know it gets frustrating sometimes, answering the same question. Ut that's why they make copy/paste, and stickies, and notes and stuff. We are all appreciative tho. Very

There is one example on page 71 (the one with the animated weather forecast icons), or alternative you can install GoLo-AnIc (Google Location -Animated Icons) from the MMUS repo, apt.mmus.us.
The one on the repo has no longer the display, which was set to 0x0 in the example on page 71.

Thanks rasputin007 but only shows my State and not my actual town
is there a way i can fix this?
-
06-17-2012, 05:00 AM #1973
Maybe!
Have a look at https://developers.google.com/maps/d...ript/geocoding there is a list of what you can get.
However if for any reason the town/village name is not available it automatically refers to the "higher" location unit, which is the "State" in your case.
Everybody can see this if they are somewhere out side in the "wild" and update their GPS location, then Google will display the "higher" location unit as there is no town/village/settlement at that GPS point.
Yahoo is not fuzzy about that you still will have a settlement name, even if that is miles away.

Update on the "hour by hour" forecast.
The idea comes from the stock Apple weather app which gives the hour by hour forecast for today. After some digging in the code I found this url The Weather Channel Mobile.
Based on that I started and it is now working, but have to test it if it is stable over longer period of time.
I still will not offer a download link as I think this would only cause more problems for a lot of people.
OK, here is a very rough run through on what is going on.
The GPS web server now also stores the latitude and longitude in separate files. Then a shell script, which is started by the php script of the GPS web server, reads those files and adds them to a shell command which gets lynx (command line web browser) to get a response file from where.yahoo.com with the WOEID for that GPS location. Next another shell script strips that response file to just leave the WOEID, next another shell script gets lynx to fetch another xml response file from weather.xml.yahoo which has the Location ID. Another shell script strips that response file to just that Location ID. Then another shell script fetches the 8 html pages for the hour by hour forecast from weather.co.uk as it now got the Location ID. Yet another shell script combines those 8 html pages into just one and that final html page is symlinked to the theme as it is that scrollable bit in the window on the lockscreen.
Basically now every time I update my GPS location I also update the "hour by hour" forecast for that GPS location, all automatically, no further input required.
EDIT
Theoretically it would be possible to get all weather info through shell scripts stored in files which then could be accessed by the theme.
The beauty of shell scripts is that it all happens in the background.
Haha, it is ironic!
I just tried the http://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/geocode/xml?latlng=$LAT,$LNG&sensor=false
with the shell script and lynx and it worked, now I got the xml response file, something I was not able to do with javascript or php and either as xml or json format.Last edited by rasputin007; 06-17-2012 at 09:43 AM.

Ras, once again, very nice work! I love the ideas you come up with. If you are looking for something to be tested again, let me know as I have an extra iph4 that I only use for testing.

Sound pretty untested for me. I would LOVE it if the Google weather solution worked better. In my area - Yahoo just sucks. Yahoo recognizes my small town - but literally only ever shows Cloudy or Partly Cloudy (not even FAIR) EVERY day of the week. It can be raining HEAVY rain and still it only reports CLOUDY or PARTLY CLOUDY for my town. Now as soon as I change it to a fixed (non-GPS) location of Philadelphia, PA -- then I get more accurate actual weather conditions and get to see some of the cooler animations for FOG and LIGHT RAIN and HEAVY RAIN.
I wonder why this is? Is it that Yahoo just focusses on large cities? What's weird - is that at Yahoo's actual HTTP weather URL - my town's weather is always listed properly and often matches Philadelphia since I'm only 30 miles from Philly. But the weather conditions for my town - though correct on the URL NEVER get reported properly to the weather themes on my phone using GPS Weather (crazyvivek).
Does anyone else experience this? I'm hoping Weather Channel or Google might have more accurate reporting api's to some of these weather tweaks. But 99% of all weather tweaks we use use Yahoo.... :-(
