GPS Based HTML Lockscreen Weather Theme

The location on the lockscreen shows the county I live in..as for the wallpaper you're rite about ios 4.2.1 as i had this problem before...however i'm no coder but just playing around...using ifile and opening the wallpaper html with text viewerif i scroll all the way down and in the section.. <iframe id= "animationFrame"........ if i change src=Animations/.........to a specific animation(instead of blank.html) then that animation runs as the wallpaper,without any wallpaper with it, just the white outline around the screen.

The blank.html is a empty html file, it is meant to be a "placeholder" for the html page that has the current weather condition.
Just delete the Wallpaper.html and the complete Animation folder in the theme and just use the lockscreen.
The use of Google Maps to get the location name was much more accurate then Yahoo, as I so far always got the correct location name of all those little villages that I work in. Yahoo always gave me the next biggest settlement/town/city as the location name even if they were miles away and that I found very annoying.

I agree with the annoying location from yahoo. I live in a Borough and yahoo would give the closest they had listed. With google i'm getting my county which is what the boroughs are in and i'm sure this can be tweeked, i just don't know how...OOOps I deleted the wallpaper img I think. Everything is there and working except the wallpaper to my lockscreen...just a little question mark...any help? thanks

No, because the MyLocation App does not work on 5.1 or 5.1.1!

Maybe we should see if Durben can put other workaround into a single cydia package and call it GPS weather files or something. Just download and go.

I just tried that way installed everything it makes a mylocation.txt file like this and this is what I get in safari

Looks like your web server (lighttpd) is not running.
After you installed all 3 Cydia packages and copied the 2 files (index.html and run.php), you have to open SBSettings and set the lighttpd switch to ON (done it also for Location!). SBSetting will respring, but you have to reboot, after that it is working.
The second screenshot shows that run.php is creating the myLocation.txt file correctly, so php is working.
I have used this "GPS on Demand" now for weeks and uninstalled MyLocation app a long time ago, I have no problem so far with this method.
Occasionally I have to reload the index.html page, basically run it twice to ensure the new GPS data are written to the myLocation.txt file.
If you still have the MyLocation app running then both will create new myLocation.txt content, not sure if that is a good idea.

PS: I had no more random resprings since I uninstalled MyLocation app.

The reason I couldn't get it to work was because I had location services turn't off for safari lol

Sadly yes, as a link to the index.html page from the LockBackground.html will not work as Winterboard does not support location services.
I have a Safari bookmark to http://127.0.0.1/index.html on my Home screen. Quick and easy GPS update. one tap, then allow location access, reload page, done! Takes just a few seconds. Open lockscreen and that is already updating.

My lockscreen now with Unfold.
No arrow, no text and I can use it either as slide to unfold or as tap to unlock, both work.

It is a free app, Unfold, as deb file, Download deb file.
Because my theme is already an invisible tap to unlock (all stock lockscreen png are full transparent and the "slide to unlock" text is being removed) all I saw was the arrow (slide.png/[email protected]), which I also made transparent and that's it.
Now I can either tap to unlock or slide from left to right to unfold the lockscreen.

So I have an idea. Maybe its not feasible on the website end of the idea, but here goes.

So many weather widgets; native, gps etc. but what makes the widget work is the weather images. So many great images, but in the end it's still just seeing the same image most of the time. Then you see another widget with really sweet images and so on and so on.

Also the images takes up precious capacity.
So, why not have the images pulled from a website? I know gunny has a site of weather images. They can be sorted by conditions and maybe randomized.

Then widgets can all be a uniform naming structure, partly_cloudy etc etc. then when partly_cloudy happens, the image location is on the website and will show whatever is the current one for that condition.

You never know what you'll get.
Variety, fresh and saving space on your device. Not to mention the time saved in creating weather widgets.

Is GPS weather working on iOS 5.1? Because mine doesn't seem ti working. Date is there but not the weather. Help please !!
