The old index.html called the go.php which created the test.xml file. Delete all 3 files from /var/www!
copy the new index.html and the run.php, that will give you the myLocation.txt file now.

This does not work at all for me using MyGPS Weather theme. It does create the myLocation.txt file but I'm guessing the MyGPS theme doesn't use it .... Will have to try it with themes...unless I'm doing something wrong..
05-06-2012, 04:59 AM #1384
Eh ... yes, the "old" My GPS Weather theme that came with the original web server idea (the test.xml file) is still looking for for that file. The code has not change in that theme and does not take any notice of the myLocation.txt file. Dump that "My GPS Weather" theme and try any other of the GPS based lockscreen/widgets that require the MyLocation app. Those should work (maybe not perfect on 4.2.1, they do not work on 3.1.3).

rasputin007 i have an question for you, how kan i instal (use) your server aplication
05-06-2012, 03:13 PM #1386
Open Cydia and search for
1.) lighttpd ( a very small, but very powerful web server that does not need much resources)
2.) php (a very powerful addition to html)
3.) Lighttpd SBSetting Toggle (this gives you a turn on/off switch for lighttpd, as well as a configuration file for lighttpd, no further setup/configuration needed! Works right out of the box).
4.) GPS for web server from MMUS repo (apt.mmus.us) will install the index.html and run.php into the iPhone web server at /var/www.
Install them, open SBSettings, open "Set Windows Toggles" and switch Lighttpd to ON, I have done the same for Location, but don't know if that is needed.
When you close SBSetting it resprings, but reboot as well to make sure lighttpd is running.
Now open Safari (make sure you allow Location Service for Safari!) on the iPhone and enter this url address "http://127.0.0.1/index.html". You get a pop-up window asking if you want to allow "http://127.0.0.1/index.html access to your location", say OK. You should now see the latitude and longitude on the screen. To be on the safe side reload that page (tap that little curly arrow at the right hand side in the address bar).
Now you should have a myLocation.txt file with those coordinates in /var/mobile/Documents.
Select your GPS based lockscreen/widget, respring and enjoy.
Hint for MyLocation app users:
Turn "Sig. Change" OFF, or myLocation.txt file gets overwritten by MyLocation app.

I really love the fact that my weather widgets now work with GPS because I live in small city and my zip code doesn't work. Now with GPS I've got my city weather, the only problem is:
I use a Max_Pa1n LS that's work perfect
And for the SB I use a Schnedi creation the fact is that city is a bigger city 20 km from here (Osimo) how is this possible?
Can someone please help me

The name for the location is set by Yahoo Weather (mostly), but Yahoo is rather tight with distinction in location names.
I live in a small village and I always get the name of the next village as this is the biggest settlement around.
I have started to use Google maps for the location name which is much more spot on and I now got my village name on the display.
It all comes down to the fact that Yahoo is simply too sloppy with names, certainly when it comes to settlements below a certain size, they get ignored and the next biggest settlement name is displayed

Thanks man! I was thinking about that but I don't know how to change it. Is there a way to change it or it's better if I change widget?

So you have to edit code.
However if you enter the url in the browser you get the xml or json response file.
Try them, add your latitude and longitude and see if the response file has the right name for your location. You find them in first results in JSON, second results in xml->second address_components->second long_names
I am currently still using a Google Map with a size of 0px x 0px, as that is so far the only way I can get the correct location name.
As I often work in lots of little villages I tried it and it has been spot on each time, whereas Yahoo gave wrong location name (next biggest settlement nearby instead) in almost all cases.

So I have an idea. Maybe its not feasible on the website end of the idea, but here goes.
So many weather widgets; native, gps etc. but what makes the widget work is the weather images. So many great images, but in the end it's still just seeing the same image most of the time. Then you see another widget with really sweet images and so on and so on.
Also the images takes up precious capacity.
So, why not have the images pulled from a website? I know gunny has a site of weather images. They can be sorted by conditions and maybe randomized.
Then widgets can all be a uniform naming structure, partly_cloudy etc etc. then when partly_cloudy happens, the image location is on the website and will show whatever is the current one for that condition.
You never know what you'll get.
Variety, fresh and saving space on your device. Not to mention the time saved in creating weather widgets.

So anything that can reduce downloading something is a big help for me, that's why I always will have the images on the iPhone.
05-11-2012, 02:12 AM #1395
Actually the image names are uniform coming out of Yahoo, 1-47 & 3200. These are typically used for icon images. If you use them for screen images also, then they are usually converted to about a dozen named images that typically everyone uses with the UniAW naming convention, rain, sleet, thunderstorm etc.
Still not a bad idea, just not real practical atm

Hey guys, i had this a month ago then I had to restore my phone, went into Cydia and dl'd it, but this time, I get no MyLocation app after the download. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

You need a reboot to see the MyLocation App icon, for anything else read my post #1379 on page 69!
Alternative read my post #1386 this page, same thing without MyLocation app, in case you are absolute unable to run MyLocation app.

It is a PerPage+ widget for all those that always get lost. It still needs some fine tuning, but here is a preview
Based on your GPS location (crazy's tweak), you can find yourself quite literally "on the map" with the current address on the top.
Tidied up the code a bit more and arranged everything a little bit neater (kind off )
deb file download
unrar, copy deb file onto iPhone and install with iFile, nothing else.
Now select widget in PerPage+ and respring (happens automatically) and enjoy.
The map is not touch sensitive, so switching from Satellite view to Roadmap view is not possible via touch (through code very easy!).
GPS accuracy is not brilliant yet, maybe when the next generation of GPS satellites are out in a few years time.
Refresh time is set to 5 minutes.
The address is from a google map response file, so no influence about content. I tried it with house number, street name, city, region and country, which worked, but took too much space.
So, what is left of the GPS based weather code, well, almost nothing, apart from the latitude and longitude extraction from the myLocation.txt and the display. Of course you still need crazy's MyLocation app for it to work as it relies on the myLocation.txt file.
Otherwise it is really small, 3 jquery js files, one Widget.html file and one background png file, that's all! Against all my usual way of work the code is quite simple and easy to read/understand.
Enjoy and have fun playing around with it.
Two questions for you very smart people here, is there anyway to add a weather widget to this? I'm using it as a lockscreen and would like a small weather widget with it somewhere. And second I have a lockscreen that shows my " neighborhood" but it's off. Can I change it to my city instead? I think i've read that somewhere but not sure. Thanks in advance
