I mean 20 sec refresh interval is a bit OTT, the weather does not change in 20 sec - maybe if you live in Tornado Alley.
I think a weather data refresh every 10 minutes is fine, but GPS refresh should be about every 5 mins or so.
Correct me if I am wrong but I understand it this way.
If the GPS location changes then the weather data gets refresh automatically, is there no change in GPS location then the weather gets refreshed at a set interval.
I think if you want to set GPS refresh and weather page refresh to 20 sec interval you might want to consider to buy yourself a mobile phone as your iPhone will be too busy, running scripts, fetching data, convert the data, displaying animation that there is not much power left to do anything else. And think about those guys that are on a "pay per data" plan.
The goal was not to update the weather every 20 seconds, that's just daft, only wanted the script to check the location text file every 20 seconds.
Yes I agree, 1 minute for this is fine. If no change in the coordinates is found the weather shouldn't update, if the coordinates have changed then the weather would update.
If there is no change in weather then the widget would update as per usual 20 or 30 minutes, depending on what you have set in the Config.js file (var updateInterval = 15
That was my goal and thanks Dacal again for solving it, NO WAY I wanted to refresh the weather every 20 seconds, I'm not completely stupid.!

    @ Dacal,
Don't know about the phone, but on my boat I have a pretty good GPS system, best accuracy I would say to about 50 metere in all disections, probably the average would be about 100 meters in all directions.
The DGPS is another story with accuracy down to 10 meters or less, this is military standards and wasn't available to the general public until just a few years ago.

Dacal, thanks again for your code.

    @Ian
It was never my intention to imply that you are stupid, if my comment came over like that, then I am sorry!
Reading the posts on the previous pages were understood by me that there was the suggestion of a 20s weather refresh and a 20s location refresh, maybe I got it wrong.

So the script isn't working with PerPage, didn't update again on the way to work. Now I will change to Dacal's new code.

One thing I notice on the original, is there something in the script that makes it only update the weather if the City/County name has changed?
I ask because GPS is way more accurate than this, it only seems to update when the County/District name changes and not when the coordinates change, because the coordinates must change every 50 meters or so but the widget doesn't update till we are in another district and the name changes (which is a good thing).

    @ Dacal,

In your script link, why is this slash needed? Thanks.

    <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="Resources/JavaScript/location.js"/></script>

    Hi, a short question:
as PerPage dont work yet but i would like to have that on my Springboard i just renamed LockBackground.html to Wallpaper.html and played a little bit around. In general it works great. I removed the layer.png cause it doesnt fit to SB.
Now i have only a black background and would like to change that. But if i add a new layer it will cover my weather icon means the layer is on top of the icon and the icon is "invisible". Is there any way to change the backgroung but keep all weather information including the icon on top ? And i dont want to cut the layer, i just want to change the complete background if possible.

Oh, i use the EPHDiOS5 GPS Weather

    Thanks in advance ...

Not needed . You can remove it, as i keep the same HTML, copy/paste some lines since a long time, i never removed it (and in fact, never saw it...).

Update location with my script (every 20s) seems not impacted very much the battery (in fact, i don't notice a difference in a small lap of time today...). Need more testing and probably push to 1 min, but it seems good to me.

    Hi,

Is anyone having any issues with the gps weather displaying? Woke up this morning and all I get is "loading" I have tried a couple of Durben's lockscreens and SB from EPHD and get the same for all? Except for the vertical widget I just get my city and nothing else? I have tried respringing and enabling/disabling my location

Hi M8, I'm using this too, beautifully simple, but I see a wee problem, there isn't enough room for long weather condition descriptions like "Mostly cloudy but might rain, then again maybe snow followed by thunder but probably a sunny day. ", so I'm gonna remove the GPS coordinates and put the description in there,

    Thanks for sharing this pal.

    Default A tip.
    To all modders & themers.

when you are making your yahoo icon sets, (especially with this GPS code as it happens a lot) don't forget to add icon number 3200.
3200 is the code yahoo uses for "Unknown" so instead of widgets showing a question mark with a white outline you can make a special icon for this. In the case of this GPS widget you would make 2 and name then "3200d" & "3200n".

The result: No more question mark.

    Thanks all.

There is no setting for this, it's down to the font you are using, go to the css file and change the temperatures fonts back to Helvetica.
