i see no one has said or has noticed it, but

if you are using Dacal's code, yahoo made changes (still not sure if permanently) but the var locale option is not working unless you change the actual code to this one

It will certainly alleviate a lot of troubleshooting problems with these weather scripts.

Yahoo sure is giving us a lot of headaches with all these changes lately

I have implemented this code into my latest Dacal based location scripted weather widget and can confirm this does work great.

Hopefully we are not playing a cat and mouse game with Yahoo weather, It would suck to have to include multiple location.js and main.js to cover all the variances yahoo is throwing at us for pulling weather data

Yahoo weather has always sucked - time to move to a different weather service that's more accurate to small towns too. And for what it's worth all my widgets set to GPS or Woeid work perfectly all thru this weekend. No problems of any kind since last weekend when we had the two day setback. But I have had no changes in operation of any of my iWidgets or SB widgets whether set to Woeid or GPS. How could mine be working and others not?

It's only certain scripts that utilize gps and woeid
If your using the gps part it works fine but if the fallback to woeid is enabled it won't work.

There are no other weather services that really utilize unlimited calling of the weather API so yahoo will be the one used.

WorldWeatherOnline requires an API key, but that is free for anybody, for example.
Apart from that you can get weather info from any website, you do not need JSON/XML response files.
Location name from Google is far better then Yahoo, especially for small towns/villages.

I knew this was the case from lots of stuff I've been reading of late and from your code you were working with on a couple of widgets - if I recall correctly. In their defense, the majority of our awesome modders here are just too invested in the current code and probably just don't want to "reinvent the wheel". It would take a long time to rewrite the code with a steep learning curve - not to mention a bazillion awesome widgets and lockscreens already written that would need to be rewritten.

But ditching Yahoo would be so much better for the community in the long run and for forward evolution of good widgets. I wonder why we don't use this downtime, while so many people are stock on iPhone 5 before a jailbreak, to rewrite the code for Google Weather which is a vastly superior reporting agency for small towns and for international from what I've read recently.

What would your rebuttal be to the other deterrent I've heard from modders here that Yahoo is the only free unlimited access service. And the argument that Yahoo is the only reliable service for international? Is that true or urban legend? ;-)

Yes, sticking to what you know might be sometimes an advantage, but on the other hand everything is changing and adapting to those changes might also be a good thing. Not an easy call, everyone has to make this decision themselves.

I am new to coding so forgive me of my questions seem basic. I have iFile I downloaded the my location app and I want to add a theme from one of the pages in this forum what steps do I need to take from here?

Also I can't change from Celsius to Fahrenheit
In iFile I deleted everything extra except my location.txt and location.txt

I bet not. It sounds like a permission issue. Change the permissions on the "documents" folder to have write access for all 3 groups.

My issues are solved. All I did was carefully follow King_O_Hill's instructions as well as use his repo source for installation and everything worked like magic. I appreciate the help bro.
