Thread: Jaku for iOS 5

I just drop the icon directly into the Popcap app folder overwriting theirs.

I had restored and didn't download the loading screens theme again, hence the wrong names.
What I meant was that instead of having
Dark Grain Loading Screens.theme
one can arguably have :
Dark Grain Loading Screens.theme
, not having the default splash screen in a secondary folder, but directly in the main .theme folder.
Would that solve the crashing issue you mention ?
I furthermore thought the crashing occurred on loading other apps too, like mmi for instance.

One ok NCSettings theme in Cydia is NCSettings Streaks theme which replaces the dark recessed background by two minimal white streaks underneath and above the toggles, although adding a translucent image you name [email protected] to remove the gloss overlay is a nice addition which the theme overlooked.

The numerous versions released, and infinite versatility, beats IconOmatic mods. By quality.

I tried just putting the [email protected] in the root of the theme folder instead of the Fallback folder, but it stops theming apps unless they have a bundle folder.

Been catching up on this thread. Trying to avoid the drama (plus sick with a cold), but since the last 10 pages are drama, it's hard to do.
First off, I'll echo Damnskippy's words. I have never been one to tell others how to hold themselves, but I would be thrilled if the veterans would elect to ignore rather than comment. There is also an ignore user option built into vBulletin. The violence has to stop somewhere; there is no last word on the internet. Again, I'm not telling people how to act, but just hoping for a return to sanity. I know there are a lot of lurkers that appreciate what the core community does. I know because I still get emails from people telling me how much they love Jaku and the Jaku repo. They are out there and they far outnumber the troublemakers. Truth be told, I was really saddened that some chose to leave over a couple of troublemakers (or really just one instigator). It felt like one cannonball took down the whole building and was astonished that they could have such a strong effect on people who put so much of themselves into not only Jaku, but this thread.
Secondly, indyzzzz (sorry, I can't recall how many z's you have) is right. Let's not get into the habit of pointing fingers at similar elements. If we did that, we would all be at each others throats over every single Safari icon ever made. It's no secret that some themes really go out of their way to copy others, but that doesn't make them inferior. Jaku would not be here today if it weren't for Shiizun (and rightfully those that contributed to that set). When I released Tenuis HD, it caused a sh!tstorm over at MTF. Everyone freaked that I needed permission from Shiizun even though I remade everything. To be fair, I tried to hunt him down, but he upped and vanished. A shame because I would have liked him to see just how inspirational Tenuis was to me. Anyway, I spoke with Ji and he with the rest of the admins. They insisted things were fine so long as I change the name. I was reluctant to do this because I didn't want the essence of the theme to be lost. I wanted the theme to reflect Shiizun's work and while I left that it was a homage to Tenuis in the description, I knew that would most likely be lost as time passed. But I acquiesced to give it more exposure. So Edius (HD) was born.
And now we are here. Jaku still carries over elements of Edius, albeit they have been reworked and refined, and those will never change for the life of the theme, because I never wanted to forget where all this began. And that is with Shiizun. Some may elect to hide their inspiration; to me, that is disingenuous at best. But there is a difference between straight ripping and creating something from your own hand, whether you borrow a metaphor or not. This is why I "forced" members to create their own icons and not just repurpose the existing ones. And you know what happened? Some members made icons that most users couldn't distinguish from my own.
The point is that if you look hard enough, you'll see similarities everywhere. But that doesn't mean ill intent or shadiness. How many times have one of you thought of something cool to only see that it's been done before? Does that negate the fact you came up with it all by yourself? Certainly not. We are all human beings and that means we share 99.6% of the same genetic code. That's right. We are all only .4% different. The rest is identical to every other person on the planet.
I would really love to crush all this and stop the hate here. It's one thing to rip my work; that I will not tolerate. But if someone wants to borrow a metaphor, then that actually makes me smile. As I said, it's always nice to get credit for the inspiration, but some won't do that, and that's okay. But let's not burn them at the stake for it. It is on their own morality that that sits, and we as outsiders looking in, can never change it. That has to come from within that person.
I appreciate all those that have a place in their heart for Jaku (and me). I want to thank all of you for making this theme what it is today. And I hope you guys don't lose sight of what drew you here in the first place.

Back on topic, can anyone make a nice Thumb icon? I tried -- it just didn't work out.

Just take the Popcap icon, name it appropriately, take it out of it's bundle, create a folder named 'Icons' in the same directory as 'Bundles' in Jaku Core and place it in there.
