Maybe it's just a small unnoticeable lag but just incase, there is no harm in setting the opacity to zero instead and deleting the display none, in the write up it suggests another method but I can't remember what it was.
    EDIT, it was this:
    translate(100000px,100000px); but I can't get that to work so opacity to zero.zero will do for me.
    Sounds good!

    Maybe once we get this sorted, we start a new thread with all the updated info and downloadables.

    UniAW 6.0!

    Ok Brian, good to meet ya, yes, good idea, I think it needs a new thread, no need for all the non gps versions now because you can select this in the config file, plus page 1 of this thread has gotten very complicated and I really don't want to add more to it LOL.

    UniAW 6.0... Coming soon, only it will look the same as the UniAW 5.0

    OK, The very latest Basalt code (with the bad woeid included, just downloaded it now), it looks like this (screen shot below)

    I think this is not completely the way it should work, I believe the coordinates are supposed to be in red for the bad woeid, and the "bad woeid" text should remain on the screen.

    On the screen shot it looks bad as weather in Maasin is about +30 but you will never have a situation like this unless you fly to a location that can't get the city name from the gps. Normally when driving the weather would be pretty much the same.

    I set the update time to 1 minute and can confirm it updates correctly in all situations.

    But I think in a bad woeid situation the gps coordinates (or my preference (because the UniAW & many other widgets don't display the coordinates) would be the city name) should be in red text so the user knows it is a bad woeid situation, Or the text "BAD WOEID" should remain on the screen.

    So far I don't have this working on the UniAW because my .js files are a little different from Dacal's ones & I have to figure in the differences (right now I'm in a mess with so many widgets and versions LOL), but when I have it fixed I will upload the adjusted files to post 1.

    I feel like a beta tester for my M8 Dacal LOL..

    Thx Ian !

    Easy to put the city and coordinates in red. I think it's the best idea. I will remove the BAD WOEID (too long). Not time now, i'm leaving my home for a 2 days business travel, but think i could check tonight at the hotel.

    Hey all,

    Not to get too far ahead, tell me why we need a gps app to get the coordinates?

    If you save this as an .html file, stick it in var/mobile Documents folder, then open it with iFile (Web Viewer) you can get the gps coordinates.
    Is there no way to integrate something like this into a widget in the background (obviously bypassing the "Get gps data" text button?

    Code:
    <html>
    <head>

    <script type="text/javascript">

    function getGPS() {
    	if (navigator.geolocation) {
    		navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(showGPS, gpsError);
    	} else {
    		gpsText.innerText = "No GPS Functionality.";
    	}
    }

    function gpsError(error) {
    	alert("GPS Error: "+error.code+", "+error.message);
    }

    function showGPS(position) {
    	gpsText.innerText = "Latitude: "+position.coords.latitude+"\nLongitude: "+position.coords.longitude;
    }

    </script>
    </head>

    <body>

    <a href=# onclick="getGPS()">Get GPS Data</a>

    <div id=gpsText></div>

    </body>

    Yes, it WinterBoard that's the issue, it needs the Location Service enabled. Maybe one day it will come.

    It's too bad the Native Weather doesn't work a bit cleaner, using Apples built in Weather Coordinates seems like it "should" be the best solution.

    Ooo no! Native Weather Was a nice concept "on paper". And it was our only choice for quite a while (brilliant design by Subywrex and Durben). But it never updated properly for me. I always had to respring my phone to get it to show the most current weather. It just wasn't a complete enough weather reporting solution in this new world of GPS reporting and the immediacy we've learned to expect from our phones knowing our location automatically..

    For me, the best solution is for Saurik to update WinterBoard so it can be added in the location services.

    This would be a huge help.

    Native weather would be the cleanest, but it needs a hook into mobile substrate to work properly. Initially we thought that an update to "libweather" would do this. Well, it turns out that it can. When we asked David Ashman (author of libweather) about working with us, he released "Forecast" just after, which basically took our idea and created a paid tweak out of it. Oh, we also didn't get the support to allow us to take advantage of the substrate that is already in place.

    I think I will contact him again and see if he might be willing to work with us. It's a long shot, but what the heck.

    Then I'll hit Saurik up too.

    Any time M8, I'm also gonna watch them, just found them today.

    I have a Mac, and Xcode, but the new version of Xcode (with IOS6 simulator) requires OS Mountain Lion, I don't like Mountain Lion so am on Snow Leopard, might set up a dual boot soon though so I can start learning Xcode.

    @ Dacal,

    Hi Dacal,

    Are you aware that <body onload="init()"> in the html file creates a fatal error in any HTML5 validator?

    I changed it to <body> and added window.onload=init; to the end of the javascript file, seems to be working ok, any thoughts on this?

    Ian.
