so first: go visit the new Official DreamBoard Wiki!

Thats the official DreamBoard wiki started by Wyndwarrior. me and Warlu have worked hard on it, any problems you find dont hesitate to let us know!

Dreamboard is pretty complicated at first so of course there will be questions and stuff, I hope we can help each other out and make some awesome themes! please post if you are working on something new or have any kind of crazy ideas!

    recommended tools:
    Windows plist editor
    NotePad++

to request help in this thread
-give your code and explain what the problem is (the full theme folder would be the best, but relevant code segments are good too)
    -provide screenshots
-the more information you post the more we will be able to help

When new apps are downloaded, where are they placed?

Is there any way to move icons, other then by editing the plist?

Is there a way to remove an existing app (ie make it a place holder) from the editing mode?

nope you have to edit the plist =/ i advise just making a blank app on ur ipod and setting it to that. otherwise it also crashes when u tap blank spaces i believe

As far as the "dock" and paging goes...

how is the "dock" identified as such? From the plist, it seems it's just another image, but if so, why does it remain when going to a new page (if it really is a new page)? Or is a 'view' just being scrolled?

Yea the dock is just in the main view, and the view containing the widgets and icons is being scrolled

Yeah.. and not so noob lol.. this DreamBoard is very complicated. I donated, got the download link from Wynd, downloaded it, had a look through it and uninstalled it, it's a great piece of coding but it just isn't user friendly enough for my liking. Will definitely be keeping an eye on it though to see how it progresses.

Oh good, if Ian is having problems with it I don't feel as completely stupid as I was anymore. I kinda feel like I'm learning to read Japanese.

Ok, so I just want to be clear. Essentially, there is a view with a width of 960 (320x3) that acts as 3 pages. The 'FrameWidth' key, gives the size of a "page" so the 'Paging' key will make the view stick to one of the 3 "pages". Then each icon or widget is given an x-coordinate added to a multiple of 320 to place it on the desired "page". Is this right?

Also, can a 'view' (acting as a button) with an alpha of 0 still be interacted with by the user? How about an app icon?

How does the hierarchy work? does a subview retain the properties of its parent (in terms of visibility and interaction)?

    EDIT

Is there a compiled list of actions somewhere? The ones I've seen are 'toggle', 'launch', and 'scrollxto', are there any others?

    yes

if it is toggled i think it will; same with app (if u can toggle apps)

if views are all inside a view that is not toggled then all the subviews also will be invisible

uhmmm i really also would like to see a list

Thanks! This is some pretty powerful stuff, but i know this x,y coordinate junk is going to drive me nuts.

One other question, I assume the best way to make a folder is to create a button that toggles an AppGrid?
