Ok, just so you know, I'm taking a break on Metropolis just to update 266sd System, Quick & Panoramic to 5.1.1 – after that, I'm back on the case with Metropolis!

In the meantime, I was playing around with WallpaperIconShadows:

Obviously the un-themed icons will eventually be themed & App Store ones will be auto-skinned.

Personally I wouldn't bother auto-skin on the app store icons. They are going to look pretty rubbish next to the hand made icons. Perhaps you could make them look like a billboard or something but overall they are never going to look anything as good as those amazing icons.

I wouldn’t be so sure of that...

I've already been experimenting & have some pretty good results.
All will be revealed when the ime is right...

I think it's best you just relax and wait. Maybe get an ice cream and enjoy the sun. This theme will come together when's it's good and ready.
