Setting up your Neurotech [HD] theme:

Apple's iOS is being updated faster than Saurik can update WinterBoard, so with iOS 4.0+, themes increasingly demand that you learn how to access your device's file system. There are a few ways to do this:

• Tethered file system access with iFunBox
  
  
• iFile gives you access to your file system directly on your device!

Q&A

Q: Wasn't this theme named Neurotech [HD]?

• A: Neurotech [HD] was up to version 2.6.3, but when the iPhone 5 jailbreak came out I decided to comb through every file and revamp the theme - I added more than a thousand extra images, I believe - this went beyond version numbers - it had become a new product, so I changed the name to reflect this!
  
  The new version of Neurotech is FREE for those that already own Neurotech [HD], and is backwards-compatible with iOS 5.x. Neurotech [HD] is going to be phased out eventually.

Q: Why don't you use labels under your springboard icons?

• A: Because it clutters the clean look I'm going for. Once you teach your brain to associate the icon image (and it's location on the springboard) with it's function, there really isn't a need for labels under the icons.
  
• You may want to keep the icon labels on for a few days until you get used to the icons, then turn them off and simply enjoy the beautiful, glowing lines!

Q: Can I request an Icon or Loading screen?

• A: Absolutely! Send me a PM or email with your request and I'll add it to my to-do list, and if all goes well I'll include it in my next update. (Please only send me 3 icons or less at a time! Some try to send me a giant list and it just turns me off to the task)
  
• Limitations: Some icons don't look right in the Neurotech style. Icons with graphics that have hard lines or symbols look best. Icons that are all gradients of color simply won't look right, so choose wisely which icons you think would look best, as I'll use some discretion in deciding if it's worth the time to do.

Q: Can I create my own Lockscreen or Wallpaper for your theme?

• A: Sure! If it's of sufficient quality I'll add it to either this post or my Wallpaper post!
  
• I'll create a simple tutorial for getting the glow just right. If you're interested PM me!

Q: What software do you use to build your themes?

• A: 98% of the assets I create start out as 3D geometry in Rhinoceros 4.0 (CAD). I then import that geometry into Cinema 4D 12 for texturing and rendering. Photoshop CS5 is used for compositing. I'll often have open all three and juggle between them.

Q: Why don't you use auto-skinning icons in your theme?

• A: Because the auto-skinning files leave a black shape around the icon that would make the icons visually 'heavy'. The downside of no auto-skinning is that unthemed icons lose their rounded corners (most of the time), but you'll not care after a couple days, trust me!

Q: Do you have any other themes on Cydia?

• A: Yes! I've been a theme maker for a couple years. Neurotech [HD] is my only paid theme at the moment. Here's what else I have on Cydia:

About the Artist

• I've been an artist for as long as I can remember - even as a kid I had pencil, pen, and eraser collections!
  
• I didn't buy my first computer until I was 20 years old. My friend introduced me to a neat program called Photoshop - I quickly adopted it and I've considered myself a digital artist ever since.
  
• I work with my friend and neighbor Vivat Hongpong. He's a brilliant, Olympic Gold Medal-Winning Ice Sculptor and all-around great artist. We share a love for Buddhist teachings and he's a joy to be around.
  
• I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Design Technology in 2008. At my school I won awards in Drafting and Computer Rendering - As it turns out this combination of skills is perfect for creating themes, so I fell into it naturally, it seems.
  
• I read a lot of books on neurobiology, consciousness, Buddhism, theoretical physics, and science fiction - so some would consider me quite the nerd.

Yeah, I'm in love with futuristic designs. Halo is a great example. Bungie has some fantastic artists, but I'm not an XBox owner -- but I do own a PC, and the Mass Effect games nail that 80's, furturist-retro look perfectly.

Heh, it shouldn't be too long -- tell you what, if it's not out by Dec. 17th I'll trade it to you for a donation. The 17th is of course TRON: Legacy Day. I'd love to have my theme in the pockets of fans while they're in the theater
