I've said this elsewhere but, if you never had or have pirated software on your phone or computer,I'll kiss ur ***. This "community" is based off of hacking,anti-establishment and piracy.

Now me personally,I have supported a few themers like Toyvan by paying for the themes. I think it's perfectly acceptable to support the creator. However, when someone calls out someone else and demands things because their theme has been pirated, I think it's nothing short of hypocrisy.

So when the RIAA comes out and says for all music pirates to remove music they illegally obtained, I bet NONE of you did it and that goes for software and apps alike.

Just accept it and move on. People who actually care about supporting, will, but don't call out someone for piracy when you, yourself, are guilty of it as well.

Sorry man, but if Microsoft can't curb piracy of it's own OS not to mention game developers and their games, you don't have a chance. There's ALWAYS a work-around and someone will exploit it.

Once again, the hypocrisy is astounding...As you browse this forum with a pirated copy of the OS of your choice while listening to pirated music with a pirated copy of Iron Man 2 playing on your TV, keep shouting "I F'n HATE PIRATES"....Everyone will take you more seriously

anyways the reason they cant fight back is because they cant do mailicious things to ur computer if u pirate their software or theyd get their arses sued

After reading all the posts and trying to understand the situation, some have mentioned my feelings towards this
Most of us cannot pay for payed apps because 1) we dont want to 2) our parents feel that it is a waste of money OR 3) Not enough money
I am 2
And that is the reason we JAILBREAK, so we dont need to pay for apps which are sold at prices and most are very unreasonable prices and make no sense
But this issue is a little different
It is only very little price to donate to the maker to BOTH show our appreciation and give them more encouragement to make themes
im sure that if K.N and Z (many more themers)did not ask for donations, there would not be that same "push" to make those tank themes and that effort we see in every theme would unfortunately not be there (not to say even though that they dont have that talent at making good themes without a donation) - dont get me wrong
Donation is and incentive for those who make themes for the general ipod/iphone/ipad community, theyre not doing it for a benefit in profits xD
I know that im not going to download themes since i dont like having a guilty conscience

Cp u r rationalizing. Apple would disagree with your assertion that jb is not stealing but we don't care what they think.
If we can define piracy as ut relates to iPhone themes we would say that it is the taking and using or distributing someone elses creation without permission or paying for it. So what's the difference in taking something that apple created, slapping a new color on it, giving it a name then selling and or distributing it?

here's the difference -- jailbreaking, theming and even installing cracked apps does not mean that you initially did not pay hundreds of dollars to Apple for the device to begin with, and pay $30 or so in addition to regular cell phone charges to operate the phone on a monthly basis. I don't think jailbreaking can be compared to theme piracy at all - stealing an iphone and using it for free every month would be the equilavent of theme piracy in my opinion.

Apple is simply behind the times when it comes to jailbreaking. It's akin to Lexus/Toyota selling you a car then telling you that you can't change the wheels, add a spoiler, or customize it in any way. Theme Creators who sell themes are akin to an aftermarket auto-accesory dealer (hello blkcadi ) who sells and installs accessories to modify stock vehicles - would you just walk into said aftermarket auto dealer's shop and steal some of their stuff just because you can?

The difference is....you arent taking the OS and STEALING it from Apple, you are simply modifying it against their permission, which is NOT STEALING BY LAW, nor is it breaking any laws.

Its actually closer to this example:

You buy a new truck and put a large suspension lift kit on it, according to the manufacturers fine print, you just voided your warranty on that truck by modifying it.

When you jailbreak, your modifying the original aspects of the product you bought, and again, by the manufacturers fine print, void your warranty.

Taking a theme, app or anything else that is sold with a price.....IS STEALING BY LAW.
