Old School Dialer Graphics

Just been playing around this evening... Thought I would share what I've been up to. Would love to hear everyone's thoughts? I've attached a few pics showing the dialer as it is and a couple shots showing the light-up buttons.

I was getting a little tired of always looking at the stock dialer keypad so I went a little retro. It all works great but I still need to work out a couple of things. The biggest thing left to do is figure out how to switch the phone number font to a black or dark gray instead of white. Anyone know how to do this? I can't find it anywhere...

The other mods to the dialer that I've seen on here have been modifying the "BarDialer_Sel.png" file but that just drops the graphics ontop of everything that is already there. To really modify the thing thoroughly is a bit more involved but I think worth it.

LONG ABSENT UPDATE 03.01.2008
I've just added a new version (2.5) to the downloads section. This version should work fine with 1.1.2, 1.1.3, and 1.1.4... (I'm currently running 1.1.4 and have had no problems with it. Sorry I've been AWOL for so long but this fix should take care of any issues. NOTE: It will not work correctly on software versions prior to 1.1.2.

Anychance you could make the button pressed image (the blue square i think?) make it look like the button is actually depressed?

No idea about changing the font color... there might be some way to mask it with a 50% transparent black image(like make one of the buttons have extra stuff... its kinda hard to explain, and i dont know if it's doable with the dialer)

I thought about that but thats going to take a little more time than I had tonight. I may well come back to it because thats what I originally wanted to do.

I thought about adding a transparent section to one of the other graphics but thats just going to darken the whole thing. I may just have to go with a darker background on the "screen" area and live with the white. Ideally I would like to have a different font that looks more like a typewriter style font and have it black so it looks like one of the old paper inserts with a hand typed number on it.

Wait until I get the files tweaked. Once I upload it and you get all the files loaded in the right places you'll be able to have the different light-up buttons on button push instead of just an overlay graphic. This isn't just a replacement for the bardialer file... There are replacement files for something like 9 or 10 files to get the full functionality out of it.

The Dialer Screen is pretty complicated in how its laid out with transparent layers all over the place and different elements stacked on top of each other. I need to redo a couple of the pieces but I'll have it up this afternoon.

Love this dialer and have a question. With the newest update of Customizer, they've included some custom dialers. I'd like to add this one to the Customizer app, or atleast to the Installer so we can directly install it with a few clicks on our phone. So, what steps would I need to do to add this dialer to the Customizers Dialers folder(assuming there is one). DO I just copy the entire folder and drop it in there?

Also, had an idea for some more RETRO stuff. Is there a way to have a dailer look like an old rotary phone, and when the numbers pressed instead of a tone can it have that distinct sound of the rotation? lol I bet there are a bunch of people here that never heard an actual rotary phone or used one. All I can say to that is...LUCKY YOU!

This Dialer is done differently than the BarDialer file mods that Customizer uses. Its just more complicated.... Maybe The SummerBoard or Customizer Folks will take a look at adding a new mod piece to their themes but right now neither of them would work to install it.

In regard to the rotary dialer... I've actually already started it. Real work permitting it wont be long before I have it finished up and ready to release. Rest assured it will be available here when its ready. EDIT: The sticking point/problem with this is figuring out the settings for relocating the touch sensitive areas for the dialer app. Anyone out there know how to go about that and want to work with me on this or explain where/how to go about it?
