I think that it looks better with some glow on the add contact and delete button, something like this. Also this way you get some feedback when pressing the button since you get some of this glow around your finger at pressing it.
What do you think Mr. Sparkle? Just an idea, I think your theme is really original and this last version is really nice; thanks for it.

I'm really digging version 2. Sometimes the numbers on the very right and left are hard to see but I think that adds to the authenticity. Javinv's images may be a good idea, but when I applied them to version 2 it didn't seem to fit as well as I had liked. It was still hard to see the glow and my fingers aren't very fat.
I'm using the alternative CALL button as I like it being more noticeable.

I used the call button images, not the alternative ones; glow is as big as it can to fit into the area of that image.

I think this version is really polished. My thoughts:
- The bulging keypad is just too "off" for me...particularly when compared to the original's alignment.
- I actually prefer the window all scratched up. Feels like I'm in Times Square circa 1989!
- Kaos's effect of down-pressed buttons without the glow is my favorite choice here and feels the most authentic to me.
- The green call button is undoubtedly my favorite dial button...especially with the subtle v.2 polish. The other graphic is an awesome alternative. This is just a personal aesthetic choice.
- Overall, I'm going to stick with v1.1 because of the keypad.
Regardless, this is going to be one of the legendary graphic mods, IMHO.
...and everyone hit this man with the "Thanks!" button.

I also like the button pushing effect, rather than the glow. However, my finger is about the same size as the buttons so I don't really see the change unless i don't push directly on the graphic.

Yeah, that is the problem when using smaller buttons. It all boils down to whether you like realism or function. That also applies to the scratched LCD. I really like the looks of the dialer on my computer screen and it's such a well done dialer screen, but I just don't like the "dirtiness" of it on my shiny phone, where everything is polished.
I should add that Apple itself is guilty of too much realism. Just look at the Notes application. For the same reason, I don't like its looks either. The font is realistic, but I hate it. The trash can and stuff is in the same hand-drawn style and I don't like that either. The yellow background is a turn-off too. Again, realism vs function...

here is my situation
Im running customize.
I used SSH to replace the stock files with the retro dialer.
The bottom buttons work, but the numbers and "Mr Sparkle" line doesn't work it just looks like the stock file due to the Back up part of Customize.
I know it works b/c if I turn the phone off, turn it on
and quickly check the Dialer it works for a split second.
then the keypad reverts to the stock file D/T Customize.
Can that be turned off? if so....How do I turn this off?
10-07-2007, 12:28 PM #92Notes upgradePLEASE click everyone's "Thanks" buttons...they are begging for it.

Nice. So you deleted Marker felt from the phone? What font does it use as replacement?

Thanks. I opted to just rename the fonts rather than deleting and that works like a charm.

I'm running Customize as well with no problems... Try restarting your Springboard. I use the Restart Springboard option in SMBPrefs. Let us know if that works.

the bottom row of buttons work (and did before the restart)
(add contact, dial, delete)
but everything above that.....looks like stock setting.
