[Release] Time Weather Calendar Springboard Theme v1.1
This is an update to the "Wilcox iPhone Theme" in the MMi Theming Contest. My submitted name wasn't very descriptive, however to make things more confusing "Time Weather Calendar" was the name as it was uploaded to Cydia. Clear enough?
So a little background.
I put together a collection of themes for my own use last Fall. These were all (and still are) readily available themes such as "iHour," "Weather and Time," "Time of WbDay,"Transparent StatusBar," "Transparent Dock," etc. Then I decided to enter this collection as a theme in the contest. Now I know it wasn't strictly a Theme as defined by the rules, and as such didn't think it would quality (BTW - thanks to you 10 folks who voted for me ;>) Anyway, I resubmitted it as a consolidated theme (Time Weather Calendar) and that version was posted on Cydia.
I've gotten a fairly steady stream of comments and help requests by the folks who've installed it. Let me be clear that even though it is now a self-enclosed theme, I've only compiled other's work into this particular combination. I've also recently had an issue of the wallpaper background not rotating with the time of day. I suspect it may have had something to do with the Winterboard upgrade a few weeks ago. At any rate, the function of refreshing the wallpapers was changed and now it works again.
- Time of day
- Month calendar
- Background image rotates as the day progresses: sunrise, morning, day, afternoon, sunset, night.
- Weather to your city is in configureMe.js file in the theme's Private folder. Instructions are in the .js file
- Switch to 24hr clock, rename the included "Wallpaper_24hr.html" file to Wallpaper.html
- Images, just replace the images in the Private folder with your own, just keep the names (or change them and reflect the new names in the Wallpaper.html file).
- Font color is changed in Info.plist
- You can add (or subtract) as many images as you want, just modify the js in the Wallpaper.html file
To get the first page of your Springboard without any icons - as the purpose of the theme is intended to be displayed, you can either search for and install "blank icon" in Cydia. Or place the file blank.app in /var/mobile/Library/WebClips and rename to Blank.webclip. Keep the Blank.webclip on the first page, then move all other icons to other pages.
To achieve a very clean look I also made my dock icons transparent and those icons are provided. If you want other icons in the dock and have them transparent, rename the .png files to the apps you want in your dock.
I'm willing to help out if anyone has questions.
- Wallpaper rotation now works again
- Cleanup of some code
- New wallpaper images
- Initial release

I think this theme is beautiful man. i'm sorry i didn't even know about it.
its obviously a bit older, but its just so aesthetic and simple, i will use it.

I love it! Is there anyway that I could take the calendar part and put it on one page of my springboard and not the others?
04-02-2009, 09:13 PM #5
However, I know the new Winterboard update does provide multiple background images per screen, but they are just bitmaps. So you could cobble together background images with a picture of a calendar and then specify which screen they go on, and strip out the calendar in the Wallpaper.html file. But (obviously) you'll be changing these out each month.

i have a tiny problem, and a possible question:
1) how do i get rid of the "untitled" in the blank.app on my first screen? its annoying... EDIT : sorry i fixed it haha...didnt realize i didnt turn off icon labels in winterboard.
2) is there anyway you could make some icons for "spring jumps" ? like 2-3 of them that I could rename at my own discretion? I honestly love your theme, its very mature. If i could have some custom blank icons for my spring jump icons, i can avoid using categories altogether and keep a smooth interface.
3) i was curious to know if you recommended any icons which would flow really smoothly with this theme...something that would keep the aesthetic and professional look to it.
many thanks if you are able to do this, i am a big fan honestly.

var todaydate=new Date()
var curmonth=todaydate.getMonth()+1 //get current month (1-12)
var curyear=todaydate.getFullYear() //get current year
document.write(buildCal(curmonth ,curyear, "main", "month", "daysofweek", "days", 1));

thanks for the icon ill see what i can do with it..
i also thought about AMANA08 icons...they will keep some level of simplicity with your beautiful little set up, but i hope they don't look too "techie".
where can i find those categories icons? i'll search on mod my i for them...honestly if you want to post whatever you think i may like, please feel free to do so if it is not time consuming.
thanks for keeping up with responses man, much respect.

Thanks a lot for sharing. I'm kinda new on this kind of widget, everything is working good but the weather won't update. If i connect to WIFI then it's fine but went i'm on Tmobile Edge, it says: "No Response".
Then again: Safari, UTube, Map, Weather App (the one comes with the phone works fine with 4 difference Cities setting) Cydia, App Store....everything are working fine.
Do i need to correct something, patch ? Please help.
(By the way i use epc.tmobile.com, it works fine with TZones)

I love the way this works! But I'd like to remove the time and date from the bottom left corner...could you shed some light on how I would do that?

hi i almost have this theme set up perfectly the way i want it, and with the icons that i want...
i had only one last request i think...
i am not knowledgeable enough to do it alone, but is there anyway to "rearrange" the widgets? I want the weather and time portion of that first page ABOVE the calendar...keeping the calendar in the exact same place.
Can this be done by editing the .js files? please let me know if it can be done....i would like to open up the bottom to fill it with some custom icons, and maintain the overall look of all 3 widgets.

Is there an easy way to adjust the calendar so day of the week starts on Sunday vs. Monday?

You can also play with these settings to fine tune it. The date and time are controlled by the Wallpaper.html file. Try this version. With the above change it may get to where you want.

<tr align="left" valign="top" border="0" cellpadding="0">
<td height="10" valign="top">
<tr><td id="date" valign="top">
You may want to move the calendar down then. So change the TD height to something larger, like 400, or something to your liking
<tr><td height="xxx" valign="bottom" border="0">
Then to change the position of the weather transparent background, in /Private/Stylesheets/oneLine.css replace the first entry with this:
Hope this all helps.
var oD = new Date(y, m-1, 1); //DD replaced line to fix date bug when current day is 31st
oD.od=oD.getDay()+1; //DD replaced line to fix date bug when current day is 31st
Then change the order of the weekdays to SMTWTFS.

Thank you so much.
I got it exactly as I wanted it to be, you actually ended up predicting it quite perfectly. With this move, I can edit the dock area a bit more and actually place in some icons which will flow with the first page. I don't keep many icons on the spring board so it works for me.
thanks for the support again, love the work.

Thanks so much ... I made the changes as your directed and it worked just great. You're the best!

first off, sick theme.
Secondly, and more importantly, I'm having some problems changing the weather part of your theme to reflect my location.
I have the .js file, and my city's location code from the weather network, but have no clue how to edit the weather string so that it loads my locations weather.
Help is greatly appreciated.
04-05-2009, 07:58 PM #20
i think i can help you with that...
all i did (considering you live in the US, is have to enter the the Private folder, and edit the Configureme.js file which contains the weather widget information source.
i kinda guessed how to do it, but it ended up working...just find the accuweather source (im not sure how to do it with yahoo weather)
it looks like this near the top:
if using the default, Apple/AccuWeather parser (originally from Leopard's Weather.wdgt)
var locale = "Laguna Niguel, California" //e.g. 'Defiance, Ohio'|'Moscow, Russia'|'Ledyard, AT'|'London, UK'
the part in bold is wher eyou would enter your city...thats all i did and it worked..
hope that kinda helps, otherwise wilcox is your man.
