Introducing the "Wide Slider" Concept

Hey all,

What you will see here is just a concept. It's something very simple, but I just want to spread the idea. I've been using this for a few days, and I decided to share.

Note: I'm sorry if something like this has already been posted. I did a few search and didn't find anything. Feel free to alert me if this already "exists".

Introducing Wide Sliders, a new slider-only theme wich will give to you more comfort and security while taking actions like unlocking, powering off or answering calls.

Why "comfortable"?
- The original sliders are too small, what makes the sliding distance too long. Taking the slider from one side to another may be difficult for some users, depending of the size of their finger or the way whey hold de device in the hand.

Why "secure"?
- You may think: 'Why not use a simple tap-to-unlock button?'. Well, with the iPhone/iPod touch screen, sometimes you may accidentaly touch the screen and the button be pressed. A slider prevents cases like that, because the action is only executed with a voluntary movement of your finger.

So, let's stop the bla-bla-bla.
Here are the screens:

1) A demo of the sliders in rest position and slided to the right. Note the small distance you have to move them.

2) The unlock slider in action. Rest position and slided.

3) The power off slider in action:

So, that's it.
Hope you like the idea.
I've been using this sliders for a few days, and I can say they are really better. Download it attatched to this post and place the extracted folder to the "Themes" folder in your device. Apply with Winterboard. Also is included the PSD for you to chance anyting you like in the slider like color, text, etc. The theme only modifies the "en.lproj" strings, so if you are in another localization, you'll have to edit them by yourself.

UPDATE

As requested, a few more color options. Just choose the one that you want and replace over the original theme file in: "/Wide Sliders/Folders/TelephonyUI.framework/". Download attatched.

yeah i def like this idea better, although it looks a little awkward. I had the tap to unlock sliders on for a while and when i would pull the phone out of my pocket it would unlock on me against my will.. Maybe I will give this one a shot... thanks for the heads up Pedro

That is exactly why i went to the tap to unlock because it was a pain sliding all the way across. This is deffinitly a great idea and i would like to use this over tap to unlock for sure =) great job and remember vote for pedro =)

Do you know how to put themes on your device using Winterboard?
Just extract the folder included in the ZIP to you /Library/Themes/ folder and apply with Winterboard.

You must have a jailbroken device and Winterboard installed.

I made a new set to use i think the colors might be a little closer to the stock. Especially the answer... But thanks again pedro for this... These work and look great.. Hope you like....

Hey friend.

I can't see the attached thumbs here.

And, oh... sorry for the mismatch colors. I don't have an iPhone so I can't even test the answer slider in action.
But feel free to mod whatever you want.

Added a Arrow and made it look a bit more "iPhone"...
