love the idea but have no idea how to help...i am a gatherer not a hunter sorry..i would for surely love to have this though

you could make it like "stack" hit the icon and the animated weather comes over yer springboard

you could even have a badge that displayes the curent temp

Ok guys..!! making progress here... i made the animation code using Suirik's html in winterboard !!! hopefully i can integrate it with one of the widgets for winterboard...

it will take time but im getting closer...!!

i will try to post a video of my progress soon...

Boy I for one am keeping my fingers crossed I would love to see this on the iPhone and I've not been able to get it to work (since I may not be as experienced as you) cuz it seemed winterboard has a limitation to the animations when you try to make .gifs that animate, you can find the weather widget thread over here.MacThemes Forum / [Theme]WeatherWidget - Pretty Weather for Winterboard

I've managed to do a few animated .gifs that change and update via the weather feed here but I doubt I can help since I barely know what I'm doing myself but here is my thread here MacThemes Forum / Beach Weather Widget Release

The way I've been able to animate the images is via making animated .gifs that are actually the weather icons so "they" the .gifs which are wallpaper/icons change when the feed updates the weather however, they're big files since I'm animating wallpapers as icons to get the day/night to update as well as the weather, so I keep running into brick walls on some (I've only managed to animate (7) different weather instances so far)

How are you doing this via html and having the icons animate? Here are two of the icons/wallpapers of the (7) I've got working on my iphone so far for my Beach theme. Another issue is when using .gifs over .mngs you lose quality so I cannot wait to see yours! I'm hoping and praying you manage it!

hey talking about the MNG's ... could i make a custom battery as a MNG instead of a PNG .. so like BatteryBG_1.mng .. so the image will be animated ... could iphone read mng's ?

No, iPhone does not support MNG files... if it did, my project would have been completed !!! too bad...

ok, so after messing around with the weather widget for winterboard.. ican honestly say that im only one step away from completeting the HTC weather For iphone..!!

the only thing missing is a javascript code that can load multiple images in a sequence instead of one..

the animations works with the saurik theme, but they stop after the second loop..dont know why...

but im aiming for the weather widget to work...

if i or you guys can figure this out... then Presto!! if not then... we will keep trying ...

Katra unless you've been able to toss all the frames into a folder and have a script run the frames (rather than creating grainy .gifs like me) you're going to be stuck cuz WinterBoard seems to have limitations on the animations which is why I've only been able to do (7) cuz it's frustrating trying to make decent animations w/ limited frames and frame rates.

Contact the dev he may be able to help you since your theme will be #1 if you can conquer this issue you're having...

I've updated my Animated Beach Weather theme w/ the (7) animated images (the rest are static .pngs renamed to .gifs) since nobody was able to help me figure out how to get the .js to display a mixed file format (a folder of both .gifs and .pngs) anyways download the file here at:

Open up the one of my animations (try either the sunny.gif or sunny_night.gif) and you can see how limited the frames and frames rates are. If you go beyond one or the other the animation will not play out. =(

If only he can make it so a script would play out frames inside of a folder rather than .gifs or better yet, if we were able to make instead of animated icons, animated avi's I think they are called? that we could name individually and would display the appropriate weather movie file each time the weather feed updates? Something like that...

You're welcome and please let me know how it goes. I have not been able to concentrate on this as much as I wanted to but I did try to make another animated icon tonight for lightning and I began at 10 frames w/ the frame rate set to 10 and by the time I was done and finally got it to animate on my phone I was down to once againnnn (3) frames the prob is I cannot seem to get past a (3) frame ani to get most of them to work properly...

This one will play on my iPhone, but once again it's very hard to make anything look good when you are basically limited to only (3) frames! argh!!!

Doreen.. i managed to get all 48 frames in a sequenced loop..!!

i did it using Saurik's html file...

it only loop's about 2 and a half times...and them it stops...what i want do is to add a link to my html file instead of the png file in the icon sets folder....if we can get it to work...then we are all good..!!!

Umm how's it going over there Katra? Pulling your hair out yet? hehe!

I think we're stuck having to really tweak the ani's to get them to play, so far what I've nailed is that I cannot go beyond (3) frames however I can go crazy on the frame rates so I've managed to tweak this lightning one which is (3) frames "but" the first one is set to a frame rate of 200 the second one is 10 and the third one is 15 so that the flashing don't drive you crazy that's about as far as I can take it w/ such limitations. (and I've lit up the ground on one of the strikes as well)

Hey guys, I wanted to contribute something here that might be helpful.

Before I crossed the darkside and bought my iPhone, i was into HTC Wizard modding, and after reading this request, i remembered that there was a group of developers who created themes for a homescreen app called "weatherpanel".

And two of them come to mind one is PhatPhingerIII which is located here:

This fellow was able to create a very nice, clean theme that he based on the HTC Diamond. I used it on my wizard and it was pretty nice to look at.

This next one is a very updated one that I also used (I used a theme that wasn't animated), that is much more Diamond.

The reason that i am sharing this, is cause these fellows have already done the leg work to get the animations going, and my thought was that perhaps whoever is developing this for the iPhone might be able to get into contact with the person who did it for WinMobile and use their images to help out for this project.

I also thought that i should add that the image files used to create these are included in the downloads so there is no extraction involved. At least there wasn't when I was playing around with them.

And if memory serves the images are in .png format, but it's been a while so i don't exactly remember.

I would love to see this developed for iPhone too!

boe_dye (I know both those guys) as a matter of fact I've spoken to Rumball not too long ago when I was trying to do this as well, he was even willing to convert his .wpa's for me but both of us were unable to get the ani's converted (w/o destroying the quality that is) and then to play on the iPhone since #1. There is no .mng support and #2. Again there is some issue w/ animation limitations vs winterboard...

But thank you for bringing that over here since I'm still praying "someone" will beat those HTC weather animations into submission on our iphones "some how" (cuz I want them badly too!)
