I wonder if you can help. I tried to play around with it.
I replace the gif with my own, renamed it in the LockBackground.html

But when I put it up on winterboard and respring.
the gif shows up but its not 'animated'

I dont know where it went wrong.

Yea I noticed some gif wont animated. probably because they are too big in file size.

Hey, i have been trying to get a gif going, have renamed it correctly and everything. However, it shows up as a small blue question mark, so far as i can tell everything is fine with the way ive named and sized the file. Another gif with the same amount of frames, frame time and size will play, but not mine. Is there any reason why???

I am having the same issue with the gifs not animating. I think it is because the gifs I am truing to use have an alpha channel. I will look to see if I can remove the alpha channels and let everyone know.

The issue appears to be the number of frames. I was trying to use gifs with 12 frames with no success. I removed the gifs alpha channel, no go. Finally I cut the number of frames to 6 and what do you know. It works. Yeah!! I am not sure of the maximum number of frames. The clown fish animation is 8 frames, so I'm guessing that 8 could be the max. If someone spends the time to figure it out please post the max number of frames.

Has anyone made any progress with this? I know some programming (C++, JAVA, HTML) but I don't know how to interface with the iPhone OS to pull the analog battery value from the system to use in a script to display different battery images... anyone? This could perhaps be a "theme" that allows people to use any battery theme they want and have it display all the time just by choosing it in winterboard. I think a lot of people would find that really cool AND usefull!

hey can someone make a famous stars and straps. Animated lockscreen for us famous stars and straps fans.

so i made a G35 lockscreen, pretty cool i think. However the pic quality doesn't seem to be as good as yours... or maybe it's just because yours have mostly black in the speed theme, i didn't look at the goldfish one.

Also i guess the Gif file size matters, much over 252kb the gif wouldn't work or am i doing something wrong?

and what program do you use to make gifs? i just used easy gif animator, worked alright

i jailbreaked my iphone a week ago,and now iam searching for nice things to change my iphone...
i like the idee with the lockscreen..

i downloaded on of the amimated lockscreens but when i want to change to gif to my favorite gif it wont work !

i downloaded around 10 animated gif which i liked...but only two of them are working..the other one just show a still image..

any idea what's wrong?

24 frames works for me:

1. get a gif (I used redodo.com) and rename it to speed.gif like in the original file
2. replace
3. add .theme to the folder with the html and gif in it
4. place in /library/themes
5. activate in WB

the animation wasn't perfectly smooth, but it worked!

^^^ Works like a charm... the only bad thing is if you get a small gif file it blows it up to full screen and distorts the image. Just have to find ones with bigger resolution.
