Not at all. I make most of the icons in vector format within Adobe Fireworks. Some are taken from web images I find or from Mac applications. Others are assembled from bits and pieces I find and fine-tuned with vectors. Since these are all available in much larger versions and in vector format, I can easily scale or change colors for future icon versions.
