Apple Reportedly Ending iPad 2 Production
Reports surfaced Thursday suggesting that Apple is poised to discontinue production of its second-generation iPad.
Despite persistent strong sales in emerging markets around the world, the non-retina tablet is fast-becoming an outdated relic of Apple's past. Consequently, the tech giant is focusing on pushing its current generation products.
Since last fall, clues have surfaced to suggest that the second-gen iPad was on its way out. Just last week, Walmart announced that the iPad 2 would go for just $299 through March 7th, the latest indication that domestic demand is quickly waning as consumers turn their attention to the latest and greatest Apple and other hardware makers have to offer in the tablet arena.
While there is no concrete timeframe for the end of production, we're told its coming. And soon.
