Navy May Combat Post Traumatic Stress with iPad App

In an effort to help members of the U.S. Navy deal with post-traumatic stress, the U.S. Office of Naval Research (ONR) is working on an iPad application tailored for this very purpose.
The Stress Resilience Training System App, which was co-funded by the Office of Naval Research and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, "provides Sailors and Marines with information about stress and resilience and how to apply this knowledge to their missions."
According to published reports this week, the military deems it a high priority to lessen the impact of PTSD on soldiers. The latest research shows that 21 percent of military personnel returning from overseas contingency operations (OCO) in Afghanistan and Iraq suffer from PTSD.
"The SRTS app provides users with an easy-to-access tool that helps them build resilience toward stressful events so that when they encounter those events, the likelihood of experiencing PTSD or any other aftereffects from stress is reduced," Cmdr. Joseph Cohn tells MedicalXpress.

The reason things like PTSD and other MH issues are not caught isn't because there wasn't "an app for that" it's because they know mentioning anything MH related upon return will delay them getting home. Not a huge deal in the AF but is with Marines and Army personnel. I guess I won't poo poo anything that might "help" but it takes more than an app.
