Default Apple Continues to Hold 81% of Tablet Market Share Despite Android Gains

According to Chitika’s research arm, Chitika Insights, Android tablets saw a continued usage share growth after the holidays but Apple’s iPad remained as the overwhelming tablet leader with 81% of tablet web traffic in the United States and Canada in January of 2013. The second tablet was Amazon’s Kindle Fire at 7.78%. Following the Kindle Fire was Samsung’s Android-based Galaxy tablets at 3.9%, up from 2.65% in December. Google’s Nexus tablets also rose from 1.06% in December to 1.7% of traffic in January, while Barnes & Noble’s Nook held 1.1% of January traffic. Other manufacturers didn’t even top the 1% mark.

Despite the overwhelming lead in the tablet market, Chitika’s latest figures to indicate an overall downward trend in Apple’s tablet traffic share. A similar analysis was seen previously in May of 2012, then more recently in November of 2012. Chitika’s current report see’s iPad web traffic dipping as low as 78.86% in the post-holiday period, though his most recent report’s figures seem to indicate that the delay may have been due to new non-iPad tablet owners using their devices at a higher rate during the holiday.

Another report accompanying the traffic figures point out that after Christmas, Amazon’s Kindle Fire saw a larger than expected traffic share jump as well as a larger than expected drop in share for the iPad. This is largely speculated being the reason due to the Kindle Fire’s strong performance for the period.

I hope he changed it and didnt give you credit rather than you actually not reading the article aha.

Anyway with the iPad mini out you can expect android to gain market share only so much as people want to buy cheap ones for their kids or themselves on a budget (say what you will buy android works it can do necessities and more). The iPads would be preferred by most other than apple haters (because even android fans like some apple products) because of the instant understanding and ease of use etc. their are different reasons but I personally think that's the biggest

Perhaps theres better things to do on Android tablets other than sit on facebook and refresh constantly.
