Apple Ready to Talk Turkey on iPad
According to published reports out of Europe on Friday, an executive with Apple is in Turkey to meet with the nation's leadership to discuss how the iPad may improve educational practices throughout the country.
Although news of today's meeting was presented as though the talks were somehow secretive, it doesn't appear that Apple made any attempt to conceal the news of Vice President of Education John Couch's meeting with Turkish President Abdullah Gül.
If the proposed education initiative worth an estimated $4.5 billion is agreed to by all parties, Apple's iPad may become a fixture in Turkey to an unprecedented degree. What we are told is that Turkey is interested in equipping some 15 million students with iPads.
“Apple has reportedly been pushing for the contract, but negotiations are said to still be underway”, said the source, which added that the meeting also tackled the layout of Turkey’s unique F-keyboard on iOS devices.
As of this writing, it isn't known when a possible final agreement will be reached between Apple and the Turkish government.
