MuscleNerd reveals that the iPad mini is Already Jailbroken

Shortly after the iPad mini was officially released to the public, the device was already jailbroken. MuscleNerd recently tweeted a screenshot of him obtaining root access to the newly released Apple tablet. Although such proof shows that a jailbreak is capable on the device, unfortunately it is far from reach for the general public.

According to MuscleNerd, he used the same “failbreak” method that Chpwn used to jailbreak the iPhone 5 to gain root access to the mini. To those of you who don’t remember, the failbreak method was the term Chpwn used to describe a jailbreak that can’t be released to the public due to the fact that it was complicated process. This means that you shouldn't get too excited just yet.

The good news here is that the jailbreak developers are working on releasing a public-friendly iteration of the jailbreak soon. It should only be a matter of time before we see jailbreaks for both the iPhone 5 and iPad mini along with other older iOS devices as well. Stay tuned for more information regarding the matter.

Not quite. It is a failbreak because it requires a dev account. Because they have some special signing abilities with the dev account that are not present in the consumer version.

Although that was the case for other failbreaks, that doesn't necessarily mean it's the same situation for the iPad Mini or ip5. Not to be rude but you shouldn't correct someone when you don't have proof for your comment.

Though the iPhone 5 is awesome on its own, if & when a jailbreak is released most, if not all of the Cydia apps most likely be tailored for the 5 anyway, smh

I say release this complicated process. It's what separates the men from the boys. Remember when we were first able to put custom ringtones on the iphones? That was 21 steps. It was as simple as I could write it.

Have you seen the awesome list of new features in iOS 6.1? No? That's because there aren't any. 6.1 adds "features" like larger spacing for your music controls and some larger buttons. Apple's new releases are these days all about preventing jailbreaks, not new user features.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for MuscleNerd. He's a total professional in every way. But it just isn't that easy to create public, untethered jailbreaks. It amazes me to read, over and over again, statements like: "rest assured, the devs are working on the untethered iPhone 5/iPad mini jailbreak and not to worry, it will be here soon."
Perhaps in some parallel universe that's true...?
