I think most of us can agree that the recent DMCA ruling that exempts phone jailbreaks, but not tablet jailbreaks is a total farce - and history will show it as such. Nonetheless, for the next three years, the law is what it is. It's not true to say nobody cares if you jailbreak a tablet. There's one particularly litigious company with very deep pockets that does.

Oh I agree they have deep pockets - just no way to 'enforce' their will even with this 'law'. Impossible to track a tablet's JB state (or at all for that matter) - especially for those of us who use an 'altered name' and PO BOX when registering our i-stuff with said 'deep-pocketed' company.

Its probably the jailbreak that does not include Cydia. No offense but whats the point. There is already a 6.0 tethered jailbreak. Am i missing something here? Looks like a lot of feedback for old news IMHO.

Correct!
People still seem to forget that the ip4S and iPad 3 exploit was a SOFTWARE exploit found in iOS 5. There never was a HARDWARE exploit found in the A5 chip so there will never be a tethered JB for those devices unless they discover one.
Since iOS 6 is a new SOFTWARE, a usable exploit must be found for the public to attain a JB on A5 & A6 devices.
So...
A4 chip - HARDWARE/SOFTWARE (iOS 4/5/6) = tethered/untethered
A5 chip - SOFTWARE (iOS 5) = untethered
A6 chip - SOFTWARE (iOS 6) = Nothing *except for developer acctsLast edited by thazsar; 11-05-2012 at 12:30 PM.

Guys, Musclenerd has done this the past few device releases and it has done NO good!! He never releases a jailbreak....it's only for show. That's it! This means nothing, other than it can be done. But to you and me and other noobs, it means nothing.

I can't believe all this talk about legal and illegal !
They will never be able to stop it world wide, as if and when the exploit is discovered they will just post it on a china site for argument sake.
Just because this ruling was made in the US this does not make it a world wide ban ?
There are plenty out there that are using pirate sites to install pirate apps and I am sure Apple are loosing more money through that than they are bothered about the Jailbreak situation. Granted if they stop Jailbreaking then they will stop the pirates. But I don't this will ever happen. And I don't think Apple will be stupid enough to try and stop people Jailbreaking as there wold loose millions to Android devices. Because if we were honest how many of us would be with Apple if we could not Jailbreak ?
Just my opinion

Ok here is a tweet from musclenerd himself stating that jail breaking an iPad is illegal.
https://twitter.com/MuscleNerd/statu...15045732085760
Anywho you guys that are say there will still be a jailbreak for the iPads coming out for iOS 6 you have lost your mind.
Your right there isn't away to track down ( as far I know) a jailbroken device. But there is away to track down Devs that make the tools to perform the jailbreak.
Hell there are only a handful of them in the world right now working on it. Making it easy for Apple or who ever to sue (spelled it right that time
) them for releasing the tool to jail break iPads.
