iPad mini Display Rumored to Match Aspect Ratio of Regular iPad

Although we are less than one week away from the formal unveiling of the so-called iPad mini, the rumor mill continues to churn out speculation about what the pint-sized iPad will deliver in terms of attributes, features, and general specs.
Alleged component images obtained by eTrade Supply suggest that despite the forthcoming tablet's smaller frame, some things will likely remain the same. "This said-to-be iPad Mini LCD Screen is almost 8- inch with about 162mm in length and 124mm in width," eTrade Supply contends. "The previous exposed iPad Mini LCD is 16:9, but the one we have got is almost a ratio of 4:3 as usual."
In recent weeks, we've heard chatter about the iPad mini possibly delivering a 16-to-9 ratio, which is largely on par with the iPhone 5. But that speculation resulted from image renderings and general expectations. The chatter regarding the iPad Mini having a 16:9 ratio actually comes from images believed to be of authentic iPad mini parts.
Apple is scheduled to raise the curtain on this miniature iPad next Tuesday, October 23rd - possibly along with one or more other new or refreshed Apple products.

If this is true, this should make converting apps to fit the size of the display easier for developers, right?

16:9 would make sense but who knows.
On that note, what are the chances that all ios devices launched from here on out will follow the IP5 and have a 16:9 ratio screen? Just coz of the video viewing factor, why waste space with black bars.
