'iPad Mini' Could Be Bigger Market Maker Than The Original iPad
It's safe to say that the iPad Mini is coming. Following years of rumors and speculation, a compact iPad model with a 7.85-inch screen is being confirmed left and right across the supply chain and among leading industry analysts with their ears close to trusted sources.
So when the iPad Mini finally rolls out, what will be the impact - both for consumers and for Apple?
For consumers, says Topeka Capital Markets analyst Brian White, the device will likely be a big hit and a must-have device, particularly in emerging tablet markets like China, where the cost of the regular-sized iPad is out of reach for many. So large are these markets, however, that the iPad Mini may see an initial sales surge that even tops the major waves made by the first-gen iPad's release in spring 2010.
In addition to the smaller price tag, the smaller size of the tablet will actually be a big selling point. "A 7.85-inch 'iPad Mini' would likely prove less obtrusive during social outings and more easily tucked into a purse or jacket than a 9.7-inch iPad," White believes.
The analyst predicted that a smaller iPad would impact the larger tablet by a "relatively minor" range of 10 to 20 percent.

I will doubt these rumors until I see proof. A summer or fall launch would mean production is already underway, but how many parts have you seen for this supposed new iPad. Strangely, I haven't seen any, but the new iPhone parts have already surfaced. WSJ and Bloomberg have predicted miniature iPhones since 2009. I don't understand how they are credible anymore.

iPad + (Galaxy Note - Android) = iPad Mini?

I don't think they're going to release an iPad Mini. I think they're going to use a larger display for the iPod Touch as well as the iPhone. I mean they haven't updated the iPod Touch line in so long and it's popular amongst teenagers and kids.

Steve Job will wake up from his grave knowing Tim Cook is altering the screen size for both iPhone and iPad

I don't know if I believe this or not, but either way if false it's cool. If true, I'm buying one lol. I would like a bigger screen than what my iPhone offers, but I don't need one that's the full size of the current iPad models. Plus if I can save $200 or so it'd be worth it in my book.

This article starts with "it's safe to say the iPad mini is coming." The only thing safe to say is that this is another bullpoop rumor. This is simply more nonsense from an imaginary supply chain that always seems to get things wrong. And more nonsense about a product that will most likely never exist because it will end up being an iPod with a resized screen. This site could almost be helpful for iOS users. To bad following the rumor mill seems to be more of a priority.
