Two Thirds of All Tablets Shipped Are Now iPads
Sometimes the word "dominant" is misused as much as the word "brilliant" when exaggeration-happy folks start to praise the people or things they love most. But in the world of tablet computers, the iPad is legitimately a dominant force in the industry and a brilliant success for Apple by all accounts.
According to the latest industry insight from ABI Research, the third generation Apple tablet is a hotter commodity than even most industry experts realize. On Monday, ABI provided the latest research suggesting that two out of every three tablets shipped globally today are iPads.
ABI says that the media tablet market shipped 18.2 million devices in 1Q of 2012. But of that number, Apple's iPad accounted for 11.8 million shipments. Samsung’s 1.1 million shipments returned the vendor to the number two spot after Amazon’s Kindle Fire shipments "fizzled entering 2012."
“A pattern similar to smartphones is also occurring in tablets,” says Jeff Orr, group director of consumer research at ABI. “Apple and Samsung have demonstrated staying power while other tablet vendors ebb and flow like the tide.”

Most people do man, however I can live without a jailbreak( would definitely suck). Apples products are just polished and they make me all warm and fuzzy.

So in what, a year, maybe a little more than a year, Apple lost 1/3 of the tablet market? ya, thats something to cheer about.

The fact that they've still got 65% of the market is impressive, despite the other slates available today.
