Default New Free Tweak Brings Full-Size Notification Banners to iPad

If you’re an iPad user and you think the small banners on the large screen are awkwardly sized, there is a new free tweak in Cydia dubbed NCPad by iOS developer thekirbylover that will give the notification banners an iPhone/iPod touch feel even on the iPad by extending them completely to either side of the screen. The banners retain their great look and still appear, as you would expect them to. You can see the tweak in action with the screenshots above.

As indicated, the banners fill the top portion of the screen whether you are in landscape mode or in portrait mode – it intelligently shows the correct size based on your orientation automatically. In addition to cosmetically looking better, the longer banners allow you to see more of your notification than you would be able to see with the limited-in-size version of the iPad notification banners.

NCPad doesn’t adjust the size of Notification Center (unfortunately), which still remains puny in comparison to the size of the iPad’s display. It will only affect the banners and no other prompts that appear on your screen. Whether or not the tweak is worth installing will be based on whether or not you this modded look over the stock look. There are really no other benefits to the tweak and it has no options to configure.

Since the tweak is made for the banners only, you will need to be running iOS 5 on your iPad. There is no reason to install this tweak on an iPhone or an iPod touch since the banner already stretches out to either side of the screen. You can disable the tweak’s effect by uninstalling it via Cydia if you decide that you don’t like it.

Personally, I like it. Sometimes the simplest things can make your day.

I'd like to see a "bigger" NC for the iPad.

You know! Why no full screen notification center? I don't think it can be done...
