Apple Lowers Price of Refurbished iPads

If you don’t suffer from a deadly case of “oneupsmanship” Apple’s latest retooling of their refurbished iPad and iPad 2 pricing might suit your fancy.
A refurbished 16GB WiFiiPad can now be had for as little as $279. The 16GB Wi-Fi iPad 2 costs $319. The 3G equivalents still hold a $130 premium over their WiFi counterparts however.
The lower prices are likely in response to the lower price of the retooled 16GB iPad 2, which has a considerably longer battery life because of the smaller A5 processor inside. Other refurbished sellers or “slightly used sellers” like Glyde.com still have the 2011 16GB iPad 2 priced at $345 plus $11.53 shipping. Also, Apple store refurbs have the advantage of a full year Apple warranty, the same bestowed upon a “new” iPad, as well as a brand new back plate and brand new battery.2nd Generation Apple iPads:
16GB $319; 3G $449
32GB $399 ; 3G $529
64GB $499 ; 3G $629
1st Generation Apple iPads:
16GB Wifi $279; + 3G $379
32GB WiFi $349; + 3G $449
64GB Wifi $449; + 3G $549
Not a bad time to buy if you’re in the market for an iPad given the number of choices and the number of deals.

Why is the original more than the iPad 2? Even with more storage, I'd think it'd be cheaper.

Not in the picture. Although looking at the prices listed, I guess.

Oh, yea. Didn't look at the pic. But it is the space size difference.

Pretty significant for just a size increase without 3G capabilities.

**BEWARE**
DO NOT BUY THE REFURBISHED IPAD 2!
Maybe it was a coincidence, but I bought one and it had a faulty display. When the Apple store gave me a replacement, its display had the exact same problem, but worse plus a faulty home button.
Apparently, the currently available refurbished iPad 2s are the same ones that turned up with bad LG displays shortly after launch. It seems Apple hasn't been replacing them during their "refurbishment" process! The displays have a troublesome flashlight-like light bleed coming from their edges. The problem is most noticeable on dark screens.
After several weeks of arguing back and forth with Mr. Cook's office via e-mail and telephone, I was told that the displays were operating "within specifications" and that the best they'd do for me was to replace it "only one more time" or provide me a refund. (Nice, huh?)
Please heed my words, this was easily the most horrid experience I've ever had dealing with a company. Apple wasted a good deal of my time, money, and energy without any compensation. Do not buy one, they'll treat you like a second class citizen if you have a problem with it!

Whats all the fuss about the pics? One is for a 32GB iPad and one is for a 16GB iPad 2..of course you pay more for storage. They dropped the price to compete with the Kindle Fire..the iPads only real competition. Seems to be working. My employer is starting an iPad buy-in program. You get a brand new iPad 3(for retail cost) and the company takes out a set amount for 8 pay periods. As low as $67 and as high as $97. Not bad at all..now everyone at work can afford one..win win!

Impressive one, but first generations are cheaper than second one. I prefer to buy refurbished one because it apple do 2 quality test on refurbished product so it is more preferable according to me.

Call me an Apple FANBOY!
So as I was getting my daily dosage of ModMyI and I came across this post... and it happens that I ordered a refurbished iPad 2 last week for my cousin who just graduated college.
So I called Apple the lady on the phone was extremely helpful, gracious and last but not least SPOKE PERFECTLY CLEAR MIDWESTERN ENGLISH. She immediately gave me a credit and asked me what was the reason why I purchased the iPad so I told her about my cousin, and she asked me about my cousin's taste (which I found strange) so I answered that she was kind of girly.... so they asked me if it would be okay for Apple to send my cousin a free pink cover for her new iPad.
I know a cover is not a big deal, but Apple's customer service attention to detail and willingness to help and "satisfy" their customers is really impressive.

Eh, the performance of the first gen is lacking, so I wouldn't drop money on that. The second gen might be enticing, I suppose.
