[Review] Full Siri GUI for iPad 1/2 – Make Spire Look the Right Way On iPad
When you install Spire on an iPad – be it the iPad or the iPad 2 (the new iPad does not have a public jailbreak yet), some features of the user interface are missing. A new free jailbreak tweak dubbed Full Siri GUI for iPad 1/2 by iOS developer iPodHacks142 brings the full Siri user interface to the iPad when you have Spire installed. As the screenshots above depict, you won’t get a black background anymore – you’ll have the linen background with the chat bubble surrounding the "What can I help you with?" text. The tweak works not only in small-declared mode, but also when in full-screen:
This tweak does a good job of re-creating the Apple appearance of Siri on the larger iPad screen. If I had to put up with the black background on my iPad with Siri, I wouldn’t want to use it. This tweak helps give it the look it should have on any iOS device, matching that of an iPhone 4S’s design and making it more enjoyable to use. Because Spire was not and likely will not be released for iOS 5.1 or any other future firmwares, Full Siri GUI for iPad 1/2 can only be installed on iOS 5.0.1.
This tweak also goes a step further and enables weather and stocks. Because this is simply a jailbreak tweak workaround for the black background GUI of Spire on the iPad, it won’t be 100% bug-free. If you're interested in getting the iPhone 4S-like interface on your iPad, you can give Full Siri GUI for iPad 1/2 a try as it is free. To get Spire working on your iPad just like any other iOS device, you will need a third party server – we have a list of working Siri servers here.
