iUser Jailbreak Allows Multiple User Accounts on the iPad
Applications like iUser are why I love the Jailbreak community. The iPad is a decidely less personal device than the iPhone. A phone is an individual's personal property with often times embarrassing information on it. You wouldn't expect a family member or friend to use your phone without permission, and rifle through your emails, text messages and other information.
The iPad? Not so much. While it may stand that a household could have a couple iPads bought by one person or another, in many homes the device sees the hands of many users. It's a coffee table companion. iUser allows the iPad to have multiple iOS user accounts just like users can on their Macs. This allows multiple users in the same household to customize one iPad any way they see fit.
The iUser hack for Jailbroken iPads, developed by Pedro Fransceschi, lets users sign in using accounts and passwords. Once signed in the user is greeted with all their own customized settings including apps, wallpapers, and just about anything else. The only caveat is backing up your iPad with iTunes. As iDownloadBlog points out, this could create some potential problems for users.
I have not restored my iPad 2 from a backup with this particular tweak yet, but I'll let everyone know as soon as I create multiple accounts with wildly different settings. In the meantime if anyone has experience with the Tweak, and how iTunes plays with it let us know in the comments.
iUsers is available in the cydia.ibloggeek.com repository. It is another perfect example of how the Jailbreak community is picking up the slack Apple feels the need to leave behind.

Great idea! Nothing like my kids getting into my iPad and changing settings, icon placements, sounds, etc.

STAY AWAY!!! I have an iPad 2...I setup my initial user, then setup a "Guest" account. Once that guest account was there I lost all of my settings for my main account even if I was actively logged in with it.
Way too buggy. BEWARE

It is buggy and i imagine works well on a freshly setup ipad. When signing in on my guest account i was greeted with a safe mode loop. To the best of my recollection I was able to fix this by:
* using ifile and moving "var/mobile/usersettings/(main prOfile)/Library" and overwriting "var/mobile/library".
*Uninstalling iuser and the.
*Deleting the usersettings folder.
I hope this development is pushed forward as i really want this. Apple shouls have built this in. In the meantime this has much promise and i believe it's close to functional.

Now THAT is cool! I'm going to test as soon as I get home. The GF would love this

Definitely not ready for release. Tried to log in with a guest account and iPad froze. Also there's already an update 1.0.1 but it won't allow you to upgrade. Even a fresh install, installs 1.0. Stay away for now, but it's an awesome idea.

Why would the OP recommend a broken app to the community? I installed it and after problems I uninstalled it, but it is still asking me for my password every time from the lock screen! Very frustrating!

Has anyone figured out how to completely delete this from the iPad? I uninstalled it through Cydia but it still frickin asks for my password every time.

I had to restore to get mine back to normal. The guest account took 10 minutes to log into. When I deleted the app it totally messed up my iPad. Stay away.

Great idea, would be nice to see it as a native iOS feature for iPad. Too bad it doesn't work though.
