Jailbreak Tweak Allows Multiple Running iPhone Apps on iPad

A recent blog post by Aaron Ash (@aaronash) gives us a small look into what he was been working on. Under the alias "Polyonix", Aaron has been working on a tweak exclusively for the iPad that allows multiple iPhone application windows to run at the same time. This can come in handy for whatever applications you use.

The tweak itself is in its early stages but has a ton of potential. Having talked with Aaron directly, he has many more upcoming implementations. From the picture above, one can notice a few of the features he mentions in his blog post:

• The edit mode in the bottom right will allow you to re-arrange windows on the screen and even rotate the windows (portrait / landscape)
• The Close Polyonix button is assumably for closing the overlay with the windows.

For those of you who may be attending the jailbreak meet-up in New York, Aaron said he may allow some people to give it a test.



I had the opportunity, while chatting with Aaron Ash, to ask him a few questions about his tweak known as "Polyonix":

JOSH: How'd you come up with this idea?
AARON: The idea has been floating around for a while. I'd been wanting to work on but I've had very little time available to work on it. I've found some time to hack on it a lot more recently and I've made some good progress.

JOSH: How long have you been working on this project?
AARON: My first git commit was on April 9th this year.

JOSH: Do you have any implementations that you're looking to try to incorporate?
AARON: The exact details of implementation are up in the air still.

Depends. It could potentially work on the iPhone depending on how you resize/design it.

P.S if unclear, i mean, from your first pic, spin the top angry birds by 180 so both users have straight on view...

Aaron just used the rotation example in general, not necessarily with Angry Birds.

Really nice, just hope the jailbreak for iPad 2 is out when this is released. My guess is we won't see iPad 2 jailbreak until after the next iPhone is released.

seems like an awesome tweak, i think the crash he was referring to in his blog was most likely related to little ram running on the 1st gen ipad.im sure it will run like very well on the ipad 2, of course when there is a jailbreak. Very creative idea though, definitely(for me at least) a must buy. Just to show off ya know and get some true multitasking Even if it is just angry birds.

Lol if I had the money I would bet you on that, alot of things can be used or made to use on both iPhone and iPad devices with a few changes and alterations, so don't ever say never, you may be proved wrong
