Discounted Original iPads Disappearing Fast Around The Globe

Joining the pronounced supply shortages of the new iPad 2 are the discounted original iPads. In fact, if you haven't visited Apple's online store in recent days, you may have missed the fact that Apple's supply of the original 16GB Wi-Fi iPads is completely depleted. Even refurbished and clearance first-gen iPads are now difficult to come by.
Within the last two weeks, finding the first generation iPad has become almost as difficult as finding the second generation iPad. Driving demand for the original tablet are the sizable discounts that are now attached to the iPad 1. Apple, for example, is selling the first-gen iPad at a $100 discount. Refurbished models, in fact, are available for $170 off the original price.
With demand for both generation iPads reaching a fever pitch around the globe, it's no wonder that a plethora of Wall Street analysts believe that Apple will sell upwards of 40 million iPads (original and second generation models) during 2011 alone. Ironically, however, the reduced price of the original iPad is making some willing to pay much more than the typical retail price for the tablet if it means they can obtain the device sooner rather than later.
Look no further than eBay to see this reality in practice. According to the E-Commerce Times, consumers are more than happy to pay premium prices. eBay sellers, the report notes, "are averaging a $198 markup on the cheapest model and a $406 markup on the fully loaded version."

Saw it being sold by buy.com recently, so I don't believe this info is true. Apple playing this shortage supply to creat artificial demand game is getting old. And this "fever" is more like "luke warm". If there is a fever there would be more people buying iPad 1 at Apple Store last week, I saw 1 person buying one in the 3 hours I had to wait to fix my Mac.

A great idea by me:
I believe I will keep my original iPad for a very, very long time and sell it for LOTS of money some day.

The Apple Online Retail Store is also out of the First Gen. iPad 32GB Wi-Fi model now. They only have the 64GB Wi-Fi model, and the three 3G models.

I bought a 16gig from $299 from verizon store. I was going to get the iPad 2 but decided saving $200 is better than having the faster speed and camera.

I've searched, watched, and bid on the original iPad for weeks on Ebay. The 64GB WiFi+3G in like-new condition is selling for $510-$550, some with extras. I picked one up for $525 shipped with almost a year of Applecare warranty left, mint condition. New factory sealed units run $670-$750. 32GB runs $50-$60 cheaper. There are LOTS of original iPads available. There are a few scammers, so beware.

this is not true...my source told me that thousands of ipad2's are in stock for shipment..it's on hold until further notice...marketing strategy to create hype...my advise is if you will only use it to watch streaming movies...another alternative is motorola xoom..i predict that in the future genius hackers will be able to run iapp programs in any tablet !!!
