Apple Sends Out Invites to March 2nd iPad 2 Unveiling

Following Tuesday's unconfirmed reports of a possible March 2nd Apple media event, on Wednesday Apple began sending out invites to the event scheduled for 10:00 am at Apple's beloved stomping grounds of the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California. As clearly indicated by the graphic art emblazoned on the invitation, the March 2nd event will yield our first official look at the second generation iPad.

Now just days away from the big reveal, the blogosphere is buzzing with rampant speculation about new features inbound to the refreshed Apple tablet. The most obvious and widely anticipated updates include a front-facing camera for FaceTime video chats, a slimmer body, and an improved display. Of course, just because we're going to get our first look at the iPad 2 next week doesn't mean we'll be able to get our hands on it just as quickly. Rumors of potential production setbacks - while denied by some - remain persistent. Regardless, Apple will all but certainly let us know what timetables we're looking at as of March 2nd.

I still don't understand the fascination with FaceTime. Do people honestly use it that much? Nobody in my family has.

The gf got me an iPad for Valentines. I like it and don't have much interest in the 2nd generation, save for the improved screen res. I may sell this one and get the new iPad depending on screen quality. She won't notice..

i have been saving for iPad2 since december lol

dude, the second you by any tech its immediately outdated :/ i was saving for one but then i decided to buy a car... now i have some more for either this or a games console... i dont know what one to get lol

I use it daily. I'm always on the road and in certain areas where I get 3G I turn on my 3g restrictor and talk to my wife. The mount in my car allows me to talk to her and take a glance at her every now and then! Very handy. Plus when the kids get home that's the first thing they do is call me via facetime.

If light peak is on, there may just be a chance of me getting one. Otherwise... just the same ipad with better spec... a bit like the iphone 4 and 3GS... yeah... spec upgrade... but no break through!!!

off topic, but I gotta point out that they are running out of numbers (and cats, lol). It's been about OSX for ten years...

OH! My own rumor!! Mac OS XI will be released on April 1st 2013!

I plan on getting an iPad 2 for my parents if it supports FaceTime. We have a first grandchild on the way, and FaceTime is WAY more portable and intuitive for soon to be grandparents.
To answer your question though, no, I have not used it often at all, but I also haven't had the need (or friends/family with devices that support it) just yet.
I have a feeling that by this time next year that will all change though.
