tinyumbrella FTW !
tinyumbrella should still allow us to easily put the phone in DFU more and itunes still requires DFU in order to update. DFU is here to stay unless they totally revamp itunes, all their certificate authentication and all that garbage. Lack of a home button wont matter for the jailbreaking devs, or us. I personally cant wait to see what theyre brewing up for the next iphone.Last edited by njlmx6; 01-13-2011 at 03:14 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

If they do end up doing it, it will be in some intuitive and incredibly simple way. It IS Apple, after all. And i'm sure they would devise another way for the device to go into DFU mode. They wouldn't keep including it in the updates if it wasn't necessary to them.

What if you only like to use your iphone one handed? How the hell are we supposed to get back to the home screen? I'm holding my iphone right now in my left hand & I use is my left thumb to navigate around. The only time I add my right hand is when I need/want to type something long winded/faster. For the most part I operate my iphone one handed MOST of the time. Why is apple so button phobic? I tried to "like" a macbook last year, but ended up going back to a windows 7 laptop

Exactly what i was thinking......
but at the same respect, apple surely would need to put a phone into DFU mode or at least allow the end user to do so should they need to restore a phone to factory settings....
on the jailbreak side of things it may just make the developers of tools incorporate 'force phone into DFU' features....who knows...
interseting times ahead

This MIGHT have worked decently if it was implemented from the very beginning. But for people like myself, who have been using an iPhone since 2007, it has pretty much become an extension of my arm. I hate the idea of breaking 4 years worth of habits that come so naturally to me now. I see no reason why these gestures can't be implemented in addition to the presence of the home button. I think that's a more likely outcome.

hehe
Since my Home button is to say the least dodgy amd i cannot be bothered to take my phone to bits and fix it, i've been using activator along with a swipe combo to do what the home button does and it works really well... bring it on !!!

It's nice for the iPad, but not for the iPhone.
Cause you will not be able to use your iPhone in one hand (using the thumb).
