AirVideoEnabler Streams Any iOS Video
When Apple announced that AirPlay would be a new feature included in the iOS 4.2 update, many people were eager for its release. However, some were disappointed to learn that only first party apps would be able to stream video. Strangely, Safari is not supported, so internet streaming is not yet possible. AirPlay is capable of streaming video from any app, but Apple chose not to enable it. Fortunately, there’s a jailbreak for that.
Thanks to Erica Sadun over at TUAW, video can now be streamed from any jailbroken iOS 4.2 device using the AirVideoEnabler patch. A single line of code was all that was necessary to enable this feature. With the patch installed, any app can stream video to an Apple TV. For now, the patch is free through Cydia. Streaming to other devices such as laptops, however, is not yet possible at this point.
Unfortunately, not everyone will be able to use this patch right away. Because iOS 4.2 is still a tethered jailbreak for newer devices, most users should probably wait until an untethered jailbreak is made available. Once again, jailbreakers will have to be patient while developers work to fix this problem.
As soon as the latest jailbreak is available, however, this will be the first thing that I download. Hopefully, Apple will come to its senses and enable it themselves so everyone can get in on all the streaming fun. I can’t wait to watch the Daily Show on my Apple TV using Skyfire with the AirVideoEnabler patch installed.

I'm sure Apple are run by retards.
Why add a feature but limit it to a few apps?
iOS has to be the most locked down OS ever. There are so many features that you have no choice but to jailbreak to enable them.
If Apple want to stop jailbreaking then they should just enable ALL features. Otherwise they give us no choice.
Now, where is the hack to let us have USB access again to the iPad with the camera dongle?Apple wants clones instead of customers.

Haha leave it to Apple to make a Good Feature, and leave it to Jailbreaking to make that feature Great/Compatible.

Just a FYI.... This patch will ONLY allow AirPlay of video coded in MP4 format. Still can NOT use iOS apps like plex or klexi at all. Air Video only works if the file is coded correctly to begin with.

A GREAT EXAMPLE of why a lot of iPhone users have /finally/ made the switch to Android.

I'm not gonna lie. I don't have a problem with iOs, other than flash. However, I wouldn't give up the battery life that I /absolutely need/ to have flash player advertisements consistently telling me that "I'm the winner of an object that I know is complete B.S".
I would love to see some things that flash is actually used for every now and then. But I have other mods/programs that allow me to do so without draining my battery.
I have yet to find ANYONE with an android phone THAT HAS not praised my jailbroken iPhone 4.
I'm not saying they are better. I just haven't seen any phone that someone has that makes me jealous.

It won't work for me when streaming from Plex.app to my AppleTV. Anyone else notice this or been able to get around it?

I don't understand why Apple do the things they do. Maybe it is the fact that if they put all these features in at one time that there will not be anything to add in the future firmware update? We all know that this would not happen as there are always people programming new tweaks and mods, but come on, if the device is capable.....enable it or add it! Just like homepage in safari on Cydia, why the hell do i have to jailbreak to add a homepage?? FolderEhancer is awesome but apple decides not to be able to make pages on folders when we know they can. Or Folders in Folders, or Folder closer, these should all be options in settings somewhere, but no Apple is retarded, but we have a Love Hate relationship, lol.
