Hugh Hefner Takes Aim at Steve Jobs Over Censored iPad App

It seems like there's a lot of "naughty" news surrounding Apple to kick off the weekend. An interesting juxtaposition of headlines, for sure, is that shortly before a web-based company announced the first mature video service to utilize the iPhone 4's FaceTime feature, Hugh Hefner took aim at Apple CEO Steve Jobs on Twitter for apparently being too uptight about what's allowed in the App Store.
As it turns out, Hefner wanted to world to know two things: first, that the iPad Playboy app was now officially available for $5 in the iPad App Store. And, second, that he wasn't exactly thrilled with Apple's decision to pretty much make the Playboy app in question less "mature" than Hef would have preferred. "Playboy will be available on iPad without the Playmates," Hefner tweeted. "Steve Jobs has a thing about nudity."
While Hefner may be displeased with the aggressive censoring of his publication on the iPad, few others are surprised by Apple's decision to enforce the company's well-known and well-documented strict policies governing the availability of content that raises eyebrows in any significant way. As a result, the Playmates who are featured will be limited to head and shoulders pics with no images that are for adult eyes only.
In other words, if you read Playboy just for the articles, you literally have nothing to worry about.

Oh man! Hugh Hefner! Drama!
Though really I think that their decision about having such an app isn't the best idea. To keep the iPhone without that, I would say would be better just because many people have an iPhone these days and even some of the younger age groups.Last edited by thetoothfairy; 08-14-2010 at 11:36 AM. You're going about this all wrong, Jobs. You want your way? Provide FW with secure parental controls and let people (& you) make their money. It would be feasible and you wont be throwing "currency flow" speed bumps in today's economy.

OK, lets try this, IRONING (searching) nope, HOUSE WORK (searching) nothing , LAUNDRY (searching) zip ,So much for the slogan "THERE IS AN APP FOR THAT"

WOW!!!!! First post huh???
Want a pat on the back? A thumbs up???? Well then... Here you go buddy!
GREAT JOB!!!!
We all sure hope you catch another one, so you can add it to your wall of plaques!
And by the way.... Your quick post (which you hurried to make "1st"), should have at least been relevant. This was about the iPad app for playboy. NOT THE IPHONE.
Please do us all a favor, and post something meaningful instead of trying to be first.Last edited by GellBrake'rrrr; 08-14-2010 at 02:58 AM.

Steve doesn't like to see naked ladies. And he has never used an Apple computer to watch porn.
If I had to chose, I'd rather be Hugh, than be like Steve.
Actually, I'd rather be like Hugh, than be myself, haha.Last edited by topless1967stang; 08-14-2010 at 06:39 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Rant Warning! Beware...
Hef, really? If you actually had balls you would not allow Playboy on the iPhone/iPad stores due to Apple censorship. Take a damn stand for something you old fool. But then again your company is struggling, you are trying to sell and you need to make a dime. Hef has really become a weak old doormat in his golden years.
Yes he still has money and women (who are with him for his money and probably call him gramps behind his back) but his stance has wavered a great deal over the years. The guy is a joke in my eyes at this point."To unpathed waters, undreamed shores." -- William Shakespeare

If you don't like it Hugh go somewhere else, whining about it isn't going to do you any good. I think Jobs made the right decision as far as that stuff goes.
