    I've been running Windows 7 Ultimate on my old eee 900A netbook for some time now. It runs great on a 16GB SSD. I've used it multiple times in my Calc 3 class this semester making 3D models in MAPLE, and it took it like a champ. It won't multitask heavy programs, but that's more of a single core processor problem than a memory issue. Currently it is running 1GB of RAM because I threw the 2GB stick I had in it into my other laptop, but even then with full Aero it runs perfectly. I don't understand why anyone would think that a more recent Atom couldn't do this?

    Also, Windows 7 runs much faster than XP in my experience with the super low end netbooks. I got my dad one of the original 900MHz Celeron 1GB RAM eee 900's, and it runs extremely well with Windows 7. It can't run Aero because it's limited by the drivers, but you would be impressed with how optimized Windows 7 is even on such low end hardware.

    I would be curious to see all that running hands on. It all sounds great in theory. I've used a few netbooks with XP and want to toss them out the window after 15 mins. I also can't ever adjust to the mini keyboard. I spend more time correcting myself than I do actually typing.

    These are for the Full-PC windows 7. This will run the Windows 7 for Netbooks, which I suppose requires slightly less HD space.

    although i'm pretty sure it will be a watered down version of win7 id love to see you run any windows os from xp up on the minimum requirements and see how it goes, trust me, from my time building computers, the lowest specification for a windows computer should usually be taken b 1.5 to run ok
    also i still think if the wetab ever becomes available in the US it would be better than any of them because not only does it run the android designed for much lower than the atom 1.66 it also runs linux applications so you have both android and linux apps to choose from

    I'll wait for the Devs to open up all the possibilities for the iPad. I'm sure that they will soon be able use the camera kit to it's full USB potential.....

    Although i would without a doubt get that msi windpad if it does hold up well. My only issue is windows 7...its gonna be slow with just 2gb?

    Besides i reckon if you give the ipad a couple of generations it will be stellar! (i hope)
    I have Windows 7 with just 1GB of RAM and it runs fast. Even Mac runs pretty well with just 2GB.

    many rumors are coming out that hp, dell, Eee pad, Wind pad and many more tablets are coming with much better specs compare to iPad… maybe those are not just rumors and many will do come out by end of this year or early next year… and the important thing is everybody is so happy that those (non-apple) tablets have so nice specs and camera options and usb ports and etc but till today the only tablet available is iPad… and everybody knows till the good tablets come out people have no other option but to buy iPad… and for today i guess iPad is rocking even the specs are low but still it is very cool thing to have right now… if other tablets are coming by end of this year or early next year i’m sure apple will bring their upgraded model of iPad which will take over the market… again !
    and this will keep happening but that is future… right now we can enjoy our iPad which is sooo amazing i must say…

    i have a 64GB iPad and am really enjoying it but really bought it because there wasn't another option in this game that compares and my house is full of Macs and i enjoy Mobile Me.

    in the last 3 years i have owned 5 different netbooks. i just kept selling them and getting new ones cause they kept quickly getting better. my last 3 i had setup with a triple boot of W7 Ultimate, OS X 10.5, and Ubuntu and all 3 of them ran great on all 3 of these OS's. since it seems windows 7 is the main topic of discussion i wanted to say that with the 1.6GHz and 2GB of ram W7 ran with no problems for me and in fact ran just as well as XP did on them.

    more ram would be a blessing on the iPad. i just checked mine in SB settings and i have 36MB left and nothing running with backgrounder. i find this low memory to be a constant for me and am tired of using the memory cleaning tool all the time to get back above 75MB free.

    my hope is that one of these companies can replicate the touchscreen abilities that Apple has since i find that to be something that no other phone or device has been able to do and i have a LOT of cell phones.

    i personally prefer The Android OS over the iPhone OS when put on the right device. i look forward to a full non phone based Android OS and hope that it is an option for me before the end of the year. i will have to wait and see what the reviews have to say.

    i say reviews which is probably BS cause if i believed the reviews from sites i trust i would probably not be enjoying typing this on my iPad right now

Also the touch support for W7 sucks at the moment.

    The second this is released is the second everyone will start complaining about it's sucky battery life and lack of performance.
    Wrong!The 12″ model, Eee Pad EP121, will be more powerful and meant to compete with laptops will run Windows 7 Home Premium on an Intel CULV (Consumer Ultra Low Voltage) Core 2 Duo processor, but Asustek hasn’t announced a price or launch date for this model as of yet.And they claim this core 2 Duo will last 10 hours battery.

    UMMM where are you getting this from? I have a netbook running windows 7 starter that is at 1.8ghz and it runs perfectly fine. The battery life is also right around 6 hours. Sure it's not 10, like the ipad, but I can also do a hell of a lot more with it. The saving grace is the amount of RAM these things have. Windows doesn't innately require a super fast CPU to run...

    It is called Windows 7 Starter. It is (almost) exclusively used for netbooks. That said, if all you can find in Windows worth using is the Aero UI, it isn't much worth discussing the topic with you. You are obviously closed minded if you think iPhone OS is preferable over a full Windows OS.

    Watch Hulu, for starters!
    But "anything I want, it's a full OS" is about on par too
    I am namely looking forward to a full featured firefox and just a UI that doesn't consist of a bunch of boxes. I say this, but I probably won't get one of these either. I have no need for one.

    Thanks for that. I looked up the requirements for Windows 7 Starter, and this is what they say
    System Requirements

    Processor speed:
    * Minimum: 800 megahertz (MHz)
    * Recommended: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or higher

    RAM:
    * Minimum: 384 megabytes (MB) RAM
    * Recommended: 512 MB RAM
    So to conclude, this tablet can definitely handle Windows 7. Can it do a whole lot more than iPhone OS? Yes. How do you solve the space issue? USB Ports = external hard drive. End of story.
    If I helped you out, please use the Thanks button ------------------------->

    Lol so true. The Aero UI is sooo nice and the only thing worth using W7 for. That's the one thing Mac OS X is missing, a nice new UI. Maybe games as well.
