It looks pretty cool. I'll be glad when Apple just releases 4.0 for iPad. It'll be a lot better than these other people trying to make one.

That was pretty freaking cool
05-23-2010, 10:48 PM #4
So all of this will not work when we jump to 4.0?
05-23-2010, 10:49 PM #5
LOL, pretty stupid to develop something that will be officially included in 4.0. Not to mention how buggy it looks...
Probably going to be another one of those $10-$20 apps where the dev is looking to make a quick buck rather then make something worth while.

Yeah really, I totally agree with you iPhone3G[S].
And seriously, what a name for an app - PadLauncher. That's so stupid.

I think you guys should so some respect for the developer. The dev made something that we can use in the mean time. I've heard so much about how yay backgrounder works but nothing works to switch between the apps. Now someone comes out with something and people complain. The iphone one was free. maybe this will be too. I'd love to have this. And I could care less about the name haha as long as the app works I don't think I'm going to be seeing the name very much.

the app seems a bit slow to me

This app seems to allow ALL apps to background and switch. Remember, iPhone OS4 may not let EVERY app background, only ones "approved" by apple, and then "approved" once again by apple to background. That means all of these jailbroken apps will not be "approved" by apple. Realize that we don't even know when OS4 is coming for the iPad, much less when the jailbreak will happen for the iPad and then again when someone can hack into the code to allow jailbroken apps to use the backgrounding functions of OS 4.
Reminds me of a snickers commercial.... Not going anywhere for a while.....
I'd be happy to use this app, thanks for the work!

So to wrap it up: Noobs! 4.0 is not your messiah, as you commonly think!

I too use ProSwitcher. The more I've used backgrounding, the more I use it less and less. I've gone full circle. Now I use backgrounding only in certain circumstances. For example, I am using Navigon and need to make a phone call. Or using Pandora and need to call. Or back and forth from email to a website, etc. I don't keep things open in the background for the specific reasons Apple is worried about. Lag and battery life.
I also have a Verizon droid which allows everything to operate in the background. App management is left up to the operating system. Most people have a program called AppKiller on their phone to get rid of backgrounded programs because after a short while android will start to lag due to all the apps that are running concurrently.
As you said, multitasking on OS4 will be far from the messiah. Hacked multitaskers will certainly improve the experience.

well, if and when 4.0 gets jailbroken, cydia developers can implement the backgrounding and not worry about apple approving it
