International iPad Sales Delayed a Month!

Apple released the following statement today which basically says if you're not in the United States you will have to wait until May to get your iPad.

Apple today released the following statement:

Although we have delivered more than 500,000 iPads during its first week, demand is far higher than we predicted and will likely continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks as more people see and touch an iPad™. We have also taken a large number of pre-orders for iPad 3G models for delivery by the end of April.

Faced with this surprisingly strong US demand, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the international launch of iPad by one month, until the end of May. We will announce international pricing and begin taking online pre-orders on Monday, May 10. We know that many international customers waiting to buy an iPad will be disappointed by this news, but we hope they will be pleased to learn the reason—the iPad is a runaway success in the US thus far.

I knew that 700,000 or so number from a previous MMi article stating how many iPads were sold was BS. Was bound to get delayed as the UK price for iPad isn't even released, I'm guessing it will start from around £400, rip off.

Cool, I have no problem trolling eBay and selling iPads to unfortunate foreigners.

So, Apple.. if you're delaying the worldwide launch by another month.. that means the 64GB iPad WiFi + 3G I ordered should get here sooner.. say, tomorrow? Today, even?

I've paid a total of 880$ (about £600) for my 64GB iPad. *yey* I'm so happy I bought it from the USA (via UK eBay). Now all my friends have to be jelous at my new toy for another extra month! Good move Apple!!

Damn. Just back from a holiday in Bali and Singapore. Knew I should of picked one up there. Legit ones too, no fake Chinese models. Selling the 16gb for S$800, which equates to €400. Oh well. No big loss. I can wait.
