Am I the only one around here that's actually gonna use this thing for work? As a sound guy I can see huge potential for some VNC touch screen action, with a good client of course. Then of course all the music / movie / game fun stuff as well...but my primary purchase decision is to use for VNC.

As a CG Artist that exactly what I would want to use it for, unfortunately the OS and hardware are so limiting that I don't see that ever happening. That's why I'm looking forward to the HP Slate. With it running Win7 I could run my cg software. Even if I can't do any hard core rendering it would still be enough to handle a lot of modeling and other stuff I do in 3D.

DO WE NEED MORE HDD space on ipad ??
Yes!!! but there is a solution to it, Only applies to the me.com members.
I have Big lib on my mobile me disk which i can access anywhere in the world.
so instead of me spending more money buying a 32GB or 64 Gb,I rather buy a $499 one
and acess all my data with Mobile me disk.
Mind you, We are moving in to Wireless World now, so why pay more when you can access all your data wireless.
And there are other way too, Even if you not Mobile Me member just search....
if I want to use my all music and media sits on my Macs, I am gonna use Simplify Media ( Music2) App, Which does work seamlessly with great sound quality.
and mind you all please, If you have too much media you just get confused, what to listen/view
I sync few fresh album in my iphone... enjoy few days in my car... and once bored replace with something else... and if I need some particular track, I can just open my simplify media app and find in my Main gigantic 7TB itune library.... lol .
and i am not gonna wait for
wifi+3G model, you know why ???
I have mywi3.4.1 and it does work great
and you never know when apple launch new model, i am 100% sure they will launch within 1 year.
this is what I think. ..... sorry if you not convinced .......Last edited by vikas3saraswat; 02-08-2010 at 07:26 PM.

I never knew there was an e-reader competition. I mean kindle and everybody have done update 2nd or 3rd model revisions. I am done with hearing what apple will do and when because it was obvious of the ipad and 3gs and ipod nano with video annoucements. Nobody knew they were going to be so subtle.

I too have all my music on my iPhone. I don't consider myself old-school at all. I'm a huge fan of Apple stuff (new MBP, iPhone 3GS and iPod Nano) but I don't see how this is something that's revolutionary like it was touted (by Apple).
My MBP is portable enough (13") and my iPhone is more than capable when I'm not carrying my MBP. I just don't see how this fits in, besides in the e-reader market. Its a glorified Touch. If it sinks the kindle and any other reader, fine but that hardly makes it revolutionary.
I was disappointed. Much like I was with the 3GS. Hopefully the 4th gen iPhone is really an "A+ upgrade" as Jobs claims.

Man Im not paying the price Apple is asking for.. Like always they come out with something and I'll let the dummies go buy it first and i'll wait and get the SAME product for a few hundred dollars less...
Pricing is a little absurd... This is the dumb part that I dont get..
1) Wi-Fi or Wi-fi with 3G= price difference
Why not keep the price comparable to the the iPhone.. 16g should be around $299- 32g $399- 64g $499 and that should be WITH the Wi-fi and 3G included...
I mean why make either or.. Again marketing greed from Apple does it again.. Thats the same as the iPod and iPhone.. If you want to use Wi-fi AND 3G get the iPhone..
Now here's the kicker- Do we even know the RAM/Memory this iPad has? That is yet to be discovered.. As always apple makes a product that has less than whats out there on the market and jacks the price up..
Then here come all the apple jock riders just jumping for joy.... Im going to laugh if this iPad comes with the same ram as the iPhone 3GS-
With the specs of this thing it should sell for around the same as an iPhone.. not jack up the price with nothing on it..
I mean think about it.. 16gig-64gig of space?? REALLY.... Ram- UNKNOWN..... Sure the speed will be nice, but an average netbook will do the same thing, costs less and can include wi-fi AND 3G abilities.. Again apple wins with the extreme price award just like they charge for their macs.. Overpriced computers..
I can build a mac for a fraction of the cost... Snow Leopard=$29.. Fresh install on a pc.... Software - depending on what you wanna get...
Running windows inside mac OS= VMfusion...
I just dont get this one....I'll just wait.

mac is not for the people who talk about prices.... mac is all about the quality and workmanship... I mean it
I have over 7 macs including i7 and I loved it... fast fast fast ... thats all it is all about
I have 2004 powerbook which is still as new as todays macbook pro.....
Apple don't pay me for writing all this... I mean come on guys appreciate what apple delivers.....
I wish ipad comes out for $100 bucks but remember you get what you pay......

Yeah they're all about quality. That's why my iPhone had to be replaced twice for hardware trouble, I would've gone back a third time but my year of service ran out so I'm stuck dealing with the problem.

Phil I had to replace my 2 iphone too... Thats ok!!!
one of my 3g having a small crack but not from outside, its from inside and as for as apple rules are concern, They treat this kinda treat as manufacturing defect, not the user abuse and give user a new phone, I have this kinda replacement with my 2g when i was walking out of my car and broke the glass.
I went to apple store told them the truth and after looking at the phone they said " we give you a another phone "
and then the apple rep explain me this policy.
but this time with my 3g screen crack they had to say NO to me as I was out of warranty. that made me so mad and i called apple online customer service, spend 20 minute with him.
and he transfer my 3gs warranty on 3g and send me the replacement
at the end what I am trying to say that we can't blame the whole company for 1 individual who did not helped us.
try calling Apple online,i am sure they will be good to you.

Mac is not about ppl talking about prices?? Are you kidding me? I hear ppl who own macs talk about prices alot.. I've owned a macbook and I talk about prices.. Its crazy that a pc can cost that much and theres nothing special about it.. Craftsmanship? Yea the astetics of Apple is nice.. but OVERALL computing I can build the EXACT same thing.. what so different about the intel processor compared to a PC or MAC?
whats so different about the DDR memory on a PC or Mac? the harddrive? etc... really and these fools charge up to $3000.00... let me type that out.. up to THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!
So for ppl who like the Mac software go buy the OS and install it on your PC as a clean install.. there are a few specs you need to check before running, but most motherboards will support the Snow Leopard.. Apple says not to do it.. but who cares.. screw them... thats why its open buy to the public..
Now as far as "ppl dont buy macs bc of price" translates into people dont buy macs bc of price bc they have money to throw away or will get into more debt just to have what everyone else is having.. sure I will agree to that..The Mac users I've come in contact with are brats and stuck up pricks bc they feel by having a mac it increases their IQ or something...
Well back to building a PC with Mac software...Final cost $1200- and it runs way better than the top of the line Mac for $3000+
Smart ppl will wait on price and let the all the ppl " who dont show Mac for price" get them one first so they can feel special and brag to others how much they over paid but they just had to have an iPad....

I'm not a big fan of the iPad. But I think iPad will be the big hit this summer. First, Is because of the price. Second, Is because of the side.

The really cool thing about the iPad is that none of you haters have to buy it. Take your MacBook pro with you to starbucks if you want. I really don't care. You don't see a place for it in the mobile market... Woopedeedoo! Nothing you say will change the fact that it's coming... Or that a lot of us are going to purchase it. If you don't like it then move on... Quit crying about it.
Regardless. I still love you guys. ;-)
I for one don't care about price when I think the product is worth it. Will I wait a couple months to see if it drops? No. But then again I paid full price for my 32gb 3GS... So I could use it on tmobile... Of course I wouldn't mind getting it cheaper if possible. But I don't mind so much. $499 is affordable.Last edited by reznor9; 02-09-2010 at 12:21 PM. I have many macs and also 1 quite capable hackintosh...but it was not as easy to build and not as compatible as you might think...and I bought every component for compatibility, still won't sleep. Also, with Mac you're really paying for the design, not the components. Have you been inside a Mac Pro? Beautiful, everything makes sense, clean. My MBP is by far the sexiest laptop I've ever seen. PC laptops not even close, not to mention far worse battery life. And my hackintosh I designed as nice looking as possible, as functional as possible, not even close to comparing with my Mac Pro.
So yeah, you do get what you pay for, including Apples hefty profit margin - but I support companies that make good products, and specially companies making environmentally responsible & energy efficient products, like Apple is now doing.
No, I don't have money to "throw away" on a Mac, I have money to invest in a Mac, and Macs hold their value far better as well, I've sold several.

well said Organik...
i open once my dell notebook and screamed .... this how people make a high quality Gadget...
and once I open my imac 20" to put 2TB hdd
I said wow everything was so organized and you could see the workmanship on each component
and on top of that I am still using my old macbookG4 which I bought in 2004 and it still look brand new
so you get what you pay!!!!!
aaaah
